Don't know much about scissors and don't use them much. (except my game shears I use on bird wings.)

But the other night my future daughter inlaw's brother came over and gave us his cutco knife products pitch. (one of them deals that was to tricky to get out of~~)

Part of the presentation is when he gets his scissors out and cuts up a penny, then hands them to me so I can cut one up, then cut news paper. Pretty cool. If I needed a pair of scissors seems like these are the ones to get. Or maybe I am not up to speed on things in the scissors world.

Any comments?

The scissors have small serrations on them to hold the penny. We were taught for the demonstration to put the penny at the very back of the scissors when they were open for more leverage. Then, hold the scissors down on a table and press down with our body weight on the top of the scissors. They would then cut the penny.

Because the scissors have small serrations, the don't do a good job at fine cutting and leaves those serration marks in what ever you are cutting.

They are good for cutting meat, since they may be disassembled to clean. And cutting other items where you don't need a finer cut.

Mine are still here and being used. I just have others for cutting paper for hobby that require delicate work.

When I made my pitch to my aunts, uncles and relatives, one aunt didn't buy the scissors because of the above reason. Anyway, they teach the sales people to "practice on your relatives first". But as a kid doing this, who's gonna turn down your sale.

Get 'em if you like 'em. There are several scissors that will do the same thing for the same amount of $$. In other words, you do get what you pay for, but they're not as "revolutionary" as the Cutco salesman makes them out to be.

I've had mine since 1991 - just used 'em tonight to cut heavy cardboard. I like 'em.

Got the same demo in 1972. I bought a 5 piece set, around $100, and got scissors and a hunting knife "free"!! I still use the knives I have not lost (scissors lost too) and the wife bought a bunch on Ebay last week. No complaints here. Sent them to Cutco for resharpening after about 15 years. They came back and did not seem as sharp as new .

My mom got suckered into a set, and they seem to suit her. The scissors aren't bad at all, go for em!
