I can only report on my recent purchase from the Cutlery Shoppe:
A few days after Christmas 2013 I got the urge to get myself a new Al Mar knife. After several on-line searches I came to the conclusion the knife I wanted must have been out of stock in the U.S.A., with none of Al Mar's dealers having any expected availability date from the manufacturer. Eventually, I found 2 companies that stated they had what I wanted in stock. I'd never dealt with either company in the past, and took a chance on one.
I placed an on-line order with the Cutlery Shoppe early on Friday morning, Dec. 27th, 2013. When I checked my e-mail later in the day I found an acknowledgement of my order from Jeff. When I checked my e-mail before turning in for the night, I had another e-mail from Jeff, this time stating my order had shipped that same day. The knife was delivered to my address Monday, Dec. 30th, 2013.
Granted, this was an order for a single knife costing less than $200; and the item was shipped to a domestic address in the U.S., not overseas, but of the hundreds of orders I've placed via the internet through the years, I can't remember any company processing my order any faster. I sent an e-mail to Jeff, thanking him for taking care of my order. He took the time to reply to me with a personal note, when none was called for, within an hour or so.
I can't talk about what happens when Jeff's business gets inundated with lots of orders and his paperwork gets backed up, and the same holds true about what happens when items get backordered from the manufacturer. I can only report that I received top-notch service from Jeff and can't believe he treats any of his Customers any differently, as long as he has the power to do so.
