Cybertool 29 opinions/review?

Ok, may as well see what you guys think of it... sent off my MO for one today.

Saw today that 4mm hex bits will fit(spent about an hour searching bfc for info)... other than that it was a whole lot of just folks saying they carry one and thats about it.

I give up my scissors and pliers getting the 29 instead of a 34, but for a 2 layer saving on thickness I can keep carrying my juice s2. A good deal of my use lately has been electronics work and wires. Another 2 months of school left and than I get to find real work(as in better than manual labour for $9/hr, electronics tech starts at $12/hr, can make $50K if the right company hires us).

How durable are the screwdriver bits & bit driver? Is the holder secure? How much of your pocket does it take up? I carry a huntsman plus daily, so I'm used to a 4 layer sak.

Any opinions or reviews are appreciated.

I carry a Cybertool 29 in my bag everyday. The screwdriver bits are very sturdy and hard. I would say that only my Wiha bits are harder. The driver is very sturdy and holds the bits very securely through the use of a spring loaded bearing on each bit. I would say that there probably isn't that much difference between the Huntsman and the Cybertool 29. BTW, I just measured and the Cybertool 29 is almost exactly 13/16th of an inch thick.

What's a Huntsman Plus please? My all-time favourite is my Economy Huntsman, which is an '80's Huntsman without scale tools & inlet badge. Having seen the current Huntsman on here, I've been thinking about retiring my economy model. But now you've got me wondering if there's something even better!

small & large blade
wood saw
scissors
combo & can

awl
hook
corkscrew

toothpick, tweezers, pen, pin(in the scales, by the pivot of the corkscrew)

Been carrying mine for about a year now, picked it up from Tim(felinevet, fveap) over on sosakonline.com(one of the gathering points we have from KF). Think I paid about $8-9usd for it "used", and looked damn near brand new when it got here. This cybertool is running me 40usd and shipping for a new one.

I rotate the huntsman plus with a vnox climber or wenger commander(soon going to get around to tossing my olivewood scales on it making it thicker).

I don't do it as much these days, but I used to buy old Macintosh computers and restore them to full working condition. Although I had various drivers already, I bought a CyberTool 34 on a lark, and found that it was just about perfect for all my electronics & PC repair needs. With a name like "CyberTool", I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised!

Anyhow, the drivers work great. Despite a lot of use, mine show no wear, other than the black oxide coating; they're hardened well, unlike a lot of cheapie drivers. The bit holder is long enough to reach into those tight spots, and sturdy enough to take a whole lotta torque, more than I expected in fact.

And while it doesn't apply to your CyberTool 29, those pliers are a lot sturdier than they look. And personally, I use scissors a lot, so the 34 was the one for me.

I was so happy with it, in fact, that it has a permanent home in my briefcase, and I just snagged a CyberTool Lite (34 + LED light and magnifying glass) for the home workbench, and occasionally EDC in lieu of my Leatherman. Yeah, it's THAT good.

The pliers that Victorinox puts on its knives are nice. I like them so much that I had a custom Vic SAK built that included them along with other tools that I wanted together in one relatively slim SAK, that I call "Tim's Senior Mechanic".

I also have a number of other Vic SAKs with the pliers (SwissChamp, SwissChamp XLT, Mechanic, "Mini-Mechanic", Handyman, Craftsman, CyberTool) and they're all great.

I'll eventaully get a mod done for me.

My minimum requirements for one:
cybertool bits & driver
corkscrew
large blade
scissors

Now to find someone with the parts to make one... I know I could probably have someone over on SOSAK make one(I think a few of them have BINS of leftover parts), the only question is time and cost. Probably easier to make the pin layout on a board and assemble my own on screws.

Hell, made an oscillator today from scratch. 8hrs on 10 attempts(6hrs last night), I'm 2 wires away from having it clean, 5 switches away from having it look good. Right now I've got a wire jumper that I just plug into the speed I want. Wouldn't mind tossing another one on power, but since I'm hooking it up directly to my 5volt suppy, the supply power switch works. 1Hz, 10Hz, 100Hz, 1kHz, 10kHz... have to find the 100picofarad cap to give me 100kHz(which as far as I know is as high as this schematic is stable to). $40 for parts, and a whole lot of tinker factor, especially putting it on a protoboard.

Putting together parts on a SAK can't be any harder :p

I collect a lot of the Swiss army knives. I own the Cyber tool 29 and the 34. I like the 29 because it is thinner and does not feel as bulky in my pocket. I use the screw driver bits alot while working in IT and it has not let me down. The primary blade is easy to sharpen and maintains a good edge for opening boxes and letters or cutting the occasional wire tie. I keep the 34 in my tool bag but i rarely use the pliers if I need a set of pliers I would probably use my gerber multi tool or leatherman with the needle nose pliers. The pliers on the SAK Cyber 34 dont feel as sturdy to me and they dont cut wires. I also own the Swiss Champ cool tool but hard to carry in your dress pants at work. Huntsman is a great knife but the hard to clean after field dressing wild game. I recently downgraded to the Victorinox Manager. It has a good built in small philips screw driver and the tip is magnetic. Very small like the Classic key chain model. Not very good for serious cutting but can open boxes well.

Vampyrewolf, sorry I haven't said so already - thanks for the info. I think I need to look out for one of those.
