D2 Steel...

I've had three D2 Steel Extremes, and am quite happy with them. All the same model #1282. Gave two of them to my children, and still have one left.

Have recently become a resident of an assisted living facility- my health is less than stellar... No firearms allowed, but the director is a fan of Ka-Bar's as well. As R.A. Heinlein said, "an armed society, is a polite society," and I will never allow myself to become a victim, if things go toes up.

Can D2 Steel blades be used with firesticks, to create a campfire?

If you are referring to a Ferro rod than yes it will throw a spark. A 90° spine would help immensely though.

Sorry for the delay in responding. No, they don't like fires, but if/when TSHTF does happen, I won't be staying here, and I may need shelter and warmth. Yeah, no firearms, but with my formerly trained military mind, my Ka-Bars, Beckers, and Eks, as well as a very nice HI Chiruwa blade, I'm not "unarmed."

Being a dowser, food, water, and other valuable items shouldn't be a problem.
