I’m looking for a dagger to add to the collection. I kind of like the modern gladius from TOPS but I feel like there should be better alternatives out there. I want something something 6” or longer…regular high carbon steel will do…solid design. Not worried about price as much as finding a good knife.

Can anyone point me in the direction of any options?

I will be making some smaller ones this year, but for longer ones David Mary David Mary occasionally does a really cool looking poker. He might be able to sneak one in an upcoming batch for ya....?

hellize hellize makes some incredible daggers. Check some of his ancient posts.

I did a quick search and I found an older post with the outline of the Velargo. A picture would indeed be nice 😅.

Also, I don’t have the ability to private message. Do you have an email where I can ask you more about your offerings, David Mary David Mary ?

David has his own sub forum.

Post a query there

As far modern tactical daggers over 6", those seem to be as rare as hens teeth. Most are in the Fairbairn Sykes pattern, long and thin. I think Spartan Blades and RJM makes wide blade daggers, but for that money I would wait on a Randall #2. Cold steel makes a bunch of traditionally styled daggers with eastern and western influences. I used to carry the Gerber MK II on my rig, and still have a Boker Applegate, and larger Gerber Applegate folder

Since its for collecting, go stainless, otherwise don't forget to periodically check for rust and reapplication of your chosen rust inhibitor. It's humidity where I'm from, if I leave a clean dry carbon blade about, it'll contract "rust pox"

When I said collection I just meant the collection of knives I have. Not that it would be a “collectible”. I like to handle my knives and slice up water bottles, fruit, etc. haha.

I’m in socal too so not much humidity here. thanks for the tip though!

David is very easy to work and I hope you give him a shot at making your knife.

Daggers are a great design. They all look pretty good, and they all look like they would do the job.
