Deals for 2/13 -- Pix villager and good buys

Great thread!!! Watch this Cabbit...

Leatherface, Leatherface...that handle was dark neem too baby.:p Ha Ha. Outsharked again. Empty handed? Hey buddy wish in one hand ____ in the other and see which one fills up first. :D :D :foot: LOL! Now I get to make it a dangler.

Seriously though this anticipation, and race is a big part of the fun here. The DOTD is a real fun process. Its like Disney World for HI nuts. Read Norm and SASSAS go at it. Sweet stuff. I have been agitated a few times, but I don't want to change the process. It took me forever to get a sarge knife, so I e-mailed Yangdu and was rewarded. I've also decided not to shark all my HI products and put in an order for my special FF, and for a Kermabit.

Please don't try to change this, but don't stop participating either. Uncle Bill had very few rules for this place and one was no fowl language. You were out of line, and even though I wasn't offended, there it is. I suggest you do a search and read his first few threads here. They are wonderful.

Heck yeah, Norm! Mike stole that trisul right out from under me:D No hard feelings there. I'm glad he got it. I'll get the next one. Oh course I might have to google a few baby animal pics and post a thread in the Cantina called, "Look what baby animals Mike drags behing his boat at full throtle":D
It's all in fun....

Good sharkin today, gentlemen. Until next time:)

Jake
The deals of the day are a game and can be a test of character, apparently.
Not unlike jousting.

Jake? Baby animals? You just made my day! :p

I DO drag sharks behind the boat, though. Other sharks eat them.

If you missed one you really liked just put an order in for it with the photo and say you want one just like it. I'm sure Yangdu can help you.

I tried that in the past, it didn't work out well.

I have no intention to cluck like a chicken." Cabbit

That's good, you don't have a history of it and I'd hate to think this forum drove you to it.

Yangdu told me there were no cleavers in this shipment.

I wonder if it might be a good idea to place some kind of limit on the number of DOTD deals one can snag. Either make it a one per-person pre-deal sort of thing or make it a limit per month or year. They do this on certain sporting even tickets to prevent somone from buying all the tickets and then re-selling them at a huge markup. I don't think there is any danger of that but it would be good if some of the newbies could get a taste of the HI products at a good price.

I know that I wanted a HI Kukri but I wanted to get one for a deal because I had no idea what kind of quality they were and didn't want to waste money on a knife that I have never seen. After being lucky enough to get in on a DOTD deal, I then was hooked. I bought several more right away and so it goes. By giving guys that have never had one a chance to pick one up for a good price, you are just going to increase the total number of Kukris you sell because more and more people will get hooked!

Maybe there can be a special for first time HI KUkri buyers only. Only people that have never ordered one can get in on the deal. I think it would make the HI sales jump because of the new Kukri addicts!

I am not saying any of this for my own benefit, I have enough Kukris to make me happy and I can be patient to wait and try my luck on the normal deals. I was just thinking how I felt when I was trying to buy my first Kukri and I kept getting in on the deals late. It took me a few months before I got one and maybe it was worth it. I know I wouldn't have bought all the following Kukris I bought if I hadn't got in on a great deal first. I bought about four in a month right after I got my first one. None did I get from the deals. HI sold 5 Kukris because I got in on a good deal on one of them. When the same old sharks keeep buying all the good deals, I don't think it adding to the sales like it would if newbies were getting all the deals.

Just a thought. I have no other interest either way so don't bother to flame me if that is what you were thinking. LOL!

I see your point, but out of the first 15 knives I bought, probably a dozen of them were from the website. I wasn't comfortable with the DOTD and didn't know what I was doing so paid full boat for everything. That got me hooked, so now I participate in the DOTD and do almost all my purchasing there.

If people want to avoid the DOTD and competing for a limited # of knives then they can simply go to the web site or email Yangdu.

Not dissing your idea, but I don't know how you could possibly regulate something like this.

Signed,

Newbie Norbert

P.S. Please tell me what is the best model for my first khuk, would you? I'd like to get one of those deals I've been hearing about, so everyone else please hold off, OK? :D

OK as a newb I have gotten in on my share of DOTD. I can't believe we would heap more work and responsibility on Yangdu so it would be easier for some picky profane whiner to get a "good deal."

Here is a newsflash.....All HI products are GREAT DEALS.

A major problem in our society is the heaping on of rules and beaurocracy so that the WEAKEST among us can get his "fair share." Additionally, why would one guys low rent profanity be the catalyst for change here. Why should any of our esteemed collectors feel guilty because of some tantrum?

Seconded! Look, it's first come first serve. Yangdu is fair. She puts up a couple at odd times and sometimes on the weekend. She puts these up when it's best for her most of the time. She has enough time to get them "sold", paid for, and shipped in one day. This idea sprouts up every few months. It's a great idea on paper, but it would just make Yangdu's life hell. A lot of times she has an extra one here or there of something. Sometimes if you email her she'll make you a deal. She bends over backwards for us every stinkin' day, and still people whine. That's why it's called sharking. Sharks don't go "Oh, excuse me, Fred. I thought you weren't going to eat that. I'm very sorry, please go ahead. I've already eaten a fish today."
I really appreciate people trying to make everything fair. I think it's noble, but moaning and whining because you missed a DOTD is not needed and disrespectful to Yangdu and everyone else. Pretty much all of us are repeat customers. HI and Nepal still gets the money. I don't care if I have so many khuks I've built a house out of them. If i see one that I want, then i'll pounce, pay promptly, and look forward to it getting here. If it's that important to you, get another job that lets you play online all day:p You can't have mine though;)

We need to keep this one Jake! That's one for the HI archives to be filed under the "Sharks" & "Whining" tabs. :D Good job.

I guess everyone took care of what I wanted to post. Basically Howard and Munk and others hit the nail on the head for me

We should be gentle with each other as we stumble along our paths

It seems to me that the knives that new people would/should want don't get snapped up right away. The old timers have plenty of those and let them alone. They may stay around minutes, hours or days. Things like standard Ang Kholas, WWII, BASs and Sirus.

It's the rare/one of a kind things that are sharked up.

Heck, I got an antlered Kermabit with a stand that hung around all weekend once. The nepolean sword I got hung around a couple of days.

Eric.

LOL. Jake that is just dayum funny. Imagine a shark socialism where the fish are distributed equally.

So what you folks are saying is that we're supposed to be impolite and cutthroat to each other?

That is not at all what Uncle Bill was about.

You all have turned into a bunch of hypocrites.

Come on Cabbit! Stick around. You haven't said _anything_ I haven't been tempted to say a hundred times, but you're asking for a change in the system that just isn't possible, and you're being kidded about it.

I just found your statements at odds with each other and gave them back to you.

I don't want to be the catalyst for anyone leaving. Accept my apology for laying it on too thick and let's forget it OK? But don't count on the deals changing too much. Just keep trying for what you want and writing Yangdu and I think you'll get where you want to be.

Hell, PM me and tell me what models you want and if you can't be online I'll do my best to snag them for you, assuming I'm on that day of course. We'll work out how to get the $ where it needs to be later. (But if it's an 18" antler BDC all bets are off! :D )
