I've been finding that I really prefer a deep hollow grind with a thin edge for the kind of cutting I typically do.

My favorite knife is my Medford Slim Marauder, but I also grab my Cold Steel Tuff Lite all the time for the same reason. My other knives are all full flat or saber flat, which is fine, but I just don't like it as much. Given the option I would almost always go for hollow.

What are some good knives, price range 50 to 500 with deep hollow ground blade geometry? I don't personally care for flippers or bearings, but you can still recommend for all the folks that do.

Second on Chris Reeve knives. I had little experience with hollow grind knives before getting an Umnumzaan then a Sebenza. Holy cow do they slice!

Oh, I am very familiar with Sebenzas. I've owned 3, a regular, classic, and 21. I really wish I had not sold my regular. Unfortunately, the point at the upper rear of the handle on the 21 digs into my palm meat in use.

I would love to buy an Umnumzaan, but it seems like CRK aren't really putting them out much anymore.

Kershaw Blur in standard 14c28n is nice and thin. The S30v version is flat ground and kinda thick.

As mentioned above, most of Buck’s standard offerings.

Cold steel code 4. The recon 1 tanto is still hollow ground, and if you find an old model of spear or clip point in AUS8 or XHP then it might be hollow ground, too.

My hollow ground spear point recon 1 in XHP night be the best folder I've owned in the $100 range.

I'd take any of Cold Steel's offerings over any buck knife, but they also do good hollow grinds.

Yeah, I know Bucks are ground well and have great longevity and heat treat. I just really prefer 1 hand operation and pocket clips.

Case Sod Buster. Nice little slicer.

Boker Exkelibur. Not particularly an excellent knife in fit and finish. But the grind is nice.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley. The original is the one I have, but its out of production. The 2 seems to be readily available. M4 steel. Nice knives.

I will second this. I too have the original.

My Apurvis Progeny has a nice hollow grind.

I was just stropping my Buck Vantage Pro to clip inside my waistband while I take our dog for a walk ( the women in my family are spoiled!). I remembered this thread.
The Vantage Pro is a great value folder. I had forgotten it s a hollow grind. Tremendous slicer, and an easy edc with a blade length of 3.25 inches. Bos treated s30v steel. g10 scales. Very ergonomic. Myblade is very slightly off center but it hasn't t changed in years of intermittent use.
You d probably like it a lot.

3/4 grind SNGs and SMFs get pretty darn thin. I had a Praetorian slim that was probably the thinnest ground folder I've ever owned. Not much compares with their slim line in that category.

I'm thinking my Sebbie 21 with its nice hollow grind should do an excellent job slicing the turkey (Oct. 12 for us Canucks). Or maybe one of my 110s would do, too, or my C&C 112. Then I've had my eye on a Gayle Bradley 2, don't have anything in CPM-M4...

Funny how it always snowballs like that lol
