Delica 4 Foliage Green G10 vs Delica 4 - can scales be swapped?

I have a Delica with what looks like green micarta scales, but turns out to be Foliage Green G10 - and the backspacer is a continuous part of the steel liners, all the way along.

Can the G10 scales from this knife be swapped with a regular Delica, which has the FRN spine?

The spine on the two knives look like they would make the scales NON interchangeable?

Regular Delica with a FRN spine? Are you referring to the backspacer, which runs from the lock to the end of the handle?

I don't follow the Delica variants; but I'm not aware of stock micarta versions (is it aftermarket?). I think there have been g10 versions, though. I would guess that the scales from one delica 4 could be switched to another delica 4...but, since I'm not 100% certain about what you are asking, that is just a guess.

Yes, perhaps spine is the wrong word? My Delica which has factory installed foliage green G10 scales has a back spacer which is entirely steel - a continuous part of the steel liner. But when I look at the standard Delica models, where mine has a steel backspacer, the FRN models have what looks like FRN scales making up the spine/backspacer?

I may be messing up the nomenclature, but hopefully you understand what I'm trying to say.

The scales on my Delica came from Spyderco originally. It was a special run, as I recall. The scales look like green linen/micarta, but I have learned that they are actually G10. And the entire backbone/spine/backspacer of the knife is polished metal.

Hopefully someone here will understand what I'm trying to convey.

Again, I don't follow the various Delica releases - I questioned the micarta because I thought I read at some point that Sal had concerns with it; but I also remember reading about a g10 version with a steel(?) backspacer...so a micarta version being similarly equipped seems right.
I would still think that, being the same model, those parts would be interchangeable; but hopefully somebody with a more definite answer will reply.

Sorry but there seems to be some confusion. There has never been a micarta Delica made by Spyderco. You can see for yourself at the Spydiewiki: http://www.spydiewiki.com/index.php?title=C11_Delica

There have been g10 and frn versions in the color you describe, so maybe it's the g10 one(?)

Ok... yes... mine is the C11GPFG. I see that it was a special version done 2008-2010, much more expensive than the other Delicas. ($165). I didn't realize until now what a special version of the Delica this is.

The G10 scales sandwich the liner steel, but do not over-lap along the backstrap/spine.

The backspacer is steel... it's a solid continuous part of the liner steel. That's a major departure from a regular Delica?

So... it certainly looks like the G10 scales on my Delica with steel backspacer are not interchangeable with the FRN scales on a regular Delica?

You can do a blade swap, leaving everything else in place, rather than trying to swap scales.

Oh man! THANK YOU for that! PERFECT!!!

I want to buy a Wharncliffe Delica, and use the Wharncliffe blade in the Delica I have now. So, I can just swap blades between them?

This version is such an impressive knife; I wish Spyderco made more of them like this:

I've done the blade swap using the blade from one of their higher end blade steel models. The warncliffe blade should be the same.

There are a bunch of YouTube videos showing you how to do it.

Fantastic. Perfect solution to my plan!!! I love this special version of the Delica, but would prefer the Wharncliffe blade.
