Delica custom scales

I know that the Delica is a rather inexpensive knife but who is using aftermarket scales? I seem to be obsessed with taking the different Delica steels and moving them to custom scales. Probably not a good cost ROI but it does add to the variety. Here's an older pic with some custom scales but I also have a set of ghost green that and also a set of matte Ti from Wilkins on the way. The nice thing is I rotate through them all and get to experience the differences in blade steel and grips.

I just got a couple all modded up like yours on the far left and I am LOVING them.

I think I snagged the last one in the red/black Zome with the stonewash and regrind. Razor sharp too!

Yes that red/black S30V Zome will be one that stays on FRN since it looks so great!

I would have a Delica again if I could find scales and have them fit for a reasonable price. I loved everything about the knife except the scales, couldn’t find any replacements, so unfortunately it had to go. I would like another, but I can’t justify that much coin on a VG10 Delica :D

You’ve got some sweet ones :thumbsup:

The blue FRN scales on the Vtoku2 may have to stay since they are so nice! That means I need to find another blade variation for the Wilkins Ti scales that are on the way.

These are waiting for an install. Not a real good picture since they have more of a glow. Now the question is do I pick up a zdp-189 or a HAP40 wharncliffe?

I really like the Delica / Endura designs and have been tempted several times order custom scales.
The crunch is spending more $ than the base knife costs.

I'm with you on that sentiment. Although, some posted here look so good it's tempting.

I'm so ham-fisted, I don't trust myself with the installation. I wish some retailer would sell some already installed.

Even Kevin Wilkins warns buyers that installing scales on a Delica can be a little tricky. I found out the hard way that the back lock bar goes in last. Even doing the assembly in that order it can take a significant amount of patience.

BOOMER52 does amazing work. He might even install them for you if you send the knife to him, I do not know. That guy in Germany will install them for you when he makes a set of scales for your knife, as well.

I'm with ya on BOOMER52. I need to look at his scales next. I do have a dremel tool and could do the mods. Another great option!
