Does anyone own, EDC the Vic Deluxe Tinker? I am looking for comments on this SAK because I want to carry something with pliers plus scissors and this seems like a good one. I realize that the pliers and scissors are somewhat small but they will work for me. Thanks.

I've been carrying a Deluxe tinker for years now. For me, it is the perfect balance between size and utility. Granted, the pliers are small, but for my needs they are the right size (I work in an office). And I always use the scissors. You can easily add more funtions by replacing the scales with ones designed for a swiss-champ. That way you have the deluxe tinker, but you also get the ball point pen and straight pin. I call it the delux, delux tinker.

No experience with the Deluxe Tinker, but I used to EDC the Super Tinker and found it to be just about the right balance of tools. I do carry the SwissChamp and know the pliers aren't real heavy duty, but as long as you keep that in mind there should be no problem.

Where might one order a set of scales for a Swiss Champ?

The ones with three slots are for pen, tweez, pick.

Shipping is expensive but you can get the sides engraved for free, and
they have most colors. I have ordered from them before, good service.

Hello,

You might want to give Doug Dillman at Freeport Knife in Maine a call. They carry most of the Victorinox line. I typically buy all my parts from Doug.

Phone is (207) 865-0779. Doug usually isn't there on weekends. The rest of his staff is pretty helpful. Please tell Doug that Joe Wright suggested you call.

Cheers - Joe

Thanks to all for your responses. The last 3 posts seem to be on a parts hunt so I would still like to hear any comments from those of you who may have a Deluxe Tinker. Thanks again.

Sorry to pull the thread off.
I have a super tinker (scissors, no pliers) and I like its size.
I also have a cybertool with the identical pliers.
Since all the implements from one victorinox SAK are the same as any other, I can say that the Deluxe Tinker is a great choice, as long as it is not too thick. It would be just a bit thicker than my super tinker, which would be alright by me.

ALL victorinox SAKs are good, you just have to find the one with the proper tools.

The real trick with SAKs is to find the _ONE_ that has what you need/want and nothing you don't to keep the size down. Some of us end up collecting them because of the search for the one... :o

I second that. I've gone though at least 8 different models before finally settling on the delux tinker. Again, size/tool ratio is perfect for my needs, but everyone's needs are different. You may need a hoof cleaner or a pharmacuetical spatula on a daily basis. There's nothing wrong with just buying a whole lotta them -- they're low costs make it quite easy.

I think the Delux Tincker would be the perfect EDC, you probably don't want anything thicker than that. At least for me, it has the right combination of tools, nothing too much, but not really missing anything important. The scissors are excellent. I can't comment on the pliars since I don't have a model with them (yet).

Is there a model indentical to the delux tincker but with a cork screw instead of the Philips?
