Anyone have one of these custom small folder wharnecliffe's from Dick, through BA or his site? (He also makes a drop as well.)

I'm curious to hear how they hold up. I've been looking to try a wharnie for some time, but the 440 steel and the fact that the resale on Dick's knives is less than spectacular has given me a case of cold feet.

Dick's knives are, and have been for many years, one of the best deals to be had in handmade folders, IMHO. ;)

He makes 'investment quaility' knives but his edc folders are not them.....they are made to be used. :)

One of my very favorite users is an Atkinson lockback in green canvas micarta. I use it hard on all sorts of things and it gives me pleasure knowing it was made by a single maker, but for so little money paid.

I have no experience with his liner locks©

Of course resale on his knives can't be too thrilling because they are so damn cheap to begin with! Buy it only if it's a user. Otherwise save for something you really want to show.

When you consider the price of one of Dick's knives, why worry about resale value? His knives cost less than a good quality factory knife and they are really well made.

Max, I've been wanting one of those for years and I've contacted Dick twice, both times with a "Sorry, chump" reply (in a nice way). He has a contract with a production company (well, that was what he said a year and a half ago, or so) that is keeping him plenty of busy, and so he really doesn't take orders or anything. Like you said, you can find these little framelocks in dealers here and there. They look like pretty thin Ti, maybe even .063" or so, so they're not going to be mammoth things like a regular framelock, but he's an experienced folder maker, so I doubt you will be disappointed. If you are, let me know and I'll buy it from you for $75. ;)

I had a Dick Atkinson tactical-style liner lock (black micarta) that I bought off of ebay, and it wasn't smooth AT ALL. I eventually just handed it off. I hope this isn't true of all his linerlocks, also, this could have been done by another user. Thoughts?

I bought one of his liner locks and was not impressed. The quality is just not very high. I think you get what you pay for.

My sentiments too.
