Did a lil mod to my Lil Native

First of all, I LOVE the Lil' Native. Thank you for making this knife, Spyderco! I've been carrying it a lot since I got it and I prefer it a lot more than the Dragonfly, which used to be my favorite Spyderco.

However, that little nub/kick bothers me a little bit. Not functionally, as changing my finger position just slightly gets rid of that problem where your finger got hit as you close it. I just think it may look better without it.

So I went ahead and ground it off and gave it a mirror edge.

Now the blade is flush with the liner cutout when closed and IMO, looks much better than it did before.

Nice work! I’m assuming the little nub adds a small measure of slippage safety and aesthetics. Your mod makes it more Comp Lock friendly since it won’t rebound off your index finger. I certainly like the look of the Lil Native, such a tiny tank!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!

Used it when I was breaking down some boxes this morning. Before the mod, itt used to snag a little bit when I use it in a sawing motion, but it's all very smooth now.

R ric75 Yes. Only a couple mm was ground off the kick

That looks great. You've convinced me that the Lil Native is my next knife. How'd you grind it off? Belt sander? Bench grinder? Should I try this myself, should I worry about burning the blade?

This is awesome! I’ve been thinking about doing the same exact thing to my shaman. Looks great!

U uncle willie Thanks! Love the Chap too!
VermontEdge VermontEdge Thanks, you should try it!

Thanks, you should definitely try the Lil Native, it's so good!

I used my Worksharp Ken Onion, which is basically a small grinder. Lowest grit, lowest speed. Took me about 10 min.

Re: burning the blade, you should be fine, really. Just hold it close to the kick so you can feel it before it gets too warm. Also, be careful as you might slip and scratch the G10 on that choil. Better remove the blade if you want to be on the safe side.
