Difference between Surefire models?

Next year I would like to purchase my first Surefire flashlight. :):)

What is the difference between, say, the M2, Z2, G2 and the 6P? They all have the same lumen output (65/120)...their prices are all over the spectrum. Is there a build quality difference? I will be doing Army MP next year overseas and eventually (most likely) I'll have a tour in the middle east....I'm sure the M2 is the toughtest, but how much 'tougher' than the others?

M2 - http://www.tacticalflashlights.com/surefire/m2.htm
Z2 - http://www.tacticalflashlights.com/surefire/z2.htm
6P - http://www.tacticalflashlights.com/surefire/6p.htm

Thanks!

Hey, you forgot C2, D2, and G2Z!

6P - the basic 2x123A model

G2 - Instead of aluminum, the body is made of a polymer called nitrolon, which makes the light much more lightweight. A side effect of the nitrolon body is that the light seems to be more shock resistant.

Z2 - Part of the body is milled out, which if you're interested in tactical lighting for use with a handgun, allows for a grip that the 6P and G2 don't, called the Rogers grip.

M2 - Surefire's ultimate (and largest) 2x123A light, it features a type III hard anodization that is very tough, plus it's water resistant, and features a shock-isolated bezel.

Thanks!

Doesn't the M2 also allow for the Roger's grip?

I've read and learned a tremendous amount about Surefire through their magazine (the mag. offer that pops up when you go to www.surefire.com) which I bought at Borders recently. Very good read...all about handgun tactics w/lights, how lights can be used as weapons, etc.

Don't forget the G2Z, a nitrolon light with pyrex lens, lockout tailcap, and combat grip! :)

The M2 and C2 share a flat side, more ergonomic combat grip. The grip ring is not adjustable though.

The G2Z and Z2 share the original round combat grip with adjustable grip rings.

My person vote would be for the G2Z. Inexpensive, high quality, shock resistant, and it has all the great features. :)

the best SF imho for std use is the E2eHA, for shooting at night get the C2 or M2, Z2 isnt bad either. i like the steel (or aluminum??) case ones, just look better to me. nitrolon works/wears fine, just like the steel myself.

Warthog:

C2 and M2 both allow for Rogers grip also, though as Skyline points out, the grip is not adjustable, which I wouldn't worry about. I'm hooked on the Rogers grip, and my dedicated defensive pistol light is a C2 (might upgrade it with an M2 bezel and a clickie someday).

PS "clickie" = clickie switch, which has a permanent click-on mode instead of just the momentary-on mode.

Hmm...interesting:)

The C2 or M2 seems to fit my needs...I don't think I need the M2's super duper shock isolation capabilities included in it's higher price...thanks all:)

Just my two cents as well.

I currently own an M3 which I use for work on special needs. I have been searching the forum, the sure fire web site and Candle Power Forum to decide what I need next.

I have decided on the G2Z because of it's light weight etc..

I am also looking at getting an E1EHA to throw in my jacket for little tasks.

I do like the E2EHA but I don't have an need for an EDC in my pocket.

Of course ERICLEW showed me pictures of the Aviator and thats probably coming to.:D

Hey Red Devil, I love the look of the Aviator porcupine, a good
self defense tool also. I have an M3 too, great light. Of all surefires I'm into M and E series only. So far I got M2/M3/E1e/KL3.
Next will be KL1 / SW02 clickie. Yeah I'm looking at the porcupine too.
In my opion, M2 is the best! my all time favorite! To me, HA III is a must have feature.
