Different hardness of rat 1 vs rat 2 aus 8

I would speculate that they are hardened for different expected uses. Rat 1 wanting a tougher (not as brittle) hard use blade and the Rat 2 expecting lighter tasks so heat treated for better edge holding.

The Ontario site lists the Rat 1 and 2 at 55-56 HRC. Very soft.
Bladehq says both are 58-60 RC.
Who knows which is right.

Ontario has two different HRC's listed for the Rat 3, I don't know which is right. I wouldn't want the softer heat treat. So I don't have a Rat 3.
Rat 3 #8665 - 57-59 HRC.
Rat 3 #8632 - 55-57 HRC.

I have been wondering about the same. It would be a good topic for the 'Ask Toooj' thread.
