Different Ideas For A Vacation . . . What Does It Mean To You???

I'm often surprised by how other people spend their "Vacations".

My wife's idea of a great vacation typically involves going somewhere, (often many places) and seeing and doing things we've never seen or done before.

She usually has an agenda with several thousand things to do and see.

I, on the other hand, dream of lying on the couch with a remote in one hand and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue in the other!

How about you?

Let's Drink!

Jerry

My wife and I have made a couple of trips to Ireland. We have a basic idea of where we going but we just wing it. First trip: Rent a car in Dublin, drive to Killkenny the first night. Then head south to the ocean and follow the coast clockwise until we get somewhere around Galway City, by then it's time to go back to the airport. 2nd trip was basically the same in the reverse direction.
Both trips required a few days in Dingle of course.
One great tip for traveling in Ireland, get a room over a pub.
Remember, it's a small country and every thing is old.
"In Ireland a Hundred miles is a long way, in America 100 years is a long time."

I’m a fan of the staycation. However, like most of them, my girl always wants to go somewhere and do everything. She’s also big into cruises. That’s not so bad, because it’s a lot of just hanging out and drinking.

Our vacation this year will be a cruise, helping my brother and SIL celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in December. I have never been on a cruise or to the islands so it should be interesting and fun.

Staying close to my backyard is great, it's why I live where I do. This earth is most beautiful in it's natural state.

She likes doing one thing and you like doing another. So 2 different things. The Battle Saw does 2 things! One of them being having a sawback, much like Jerry laying on the couch on his "back" and inevitable "sawing logs".

And because she likes doing "everything", you're bringing everything Jerry. Meaning the Mini Battle Saw piggyback!

Woohoo! 😁

Vacations take on various roles. This week I took a “vacation” from work. This particular one is to catch up on some homework. While watching my daughters dog previously, she caused a bit of damage knocking her kennel into a few door jambs and wall damage. So repairs, clean up some “work stations” around the house. Too many gun repairs, siting on kitchen table, sharpening knives for coworkers. Sighting in a few guns. And tackling my “storage”’room of overflow.

Followed by a couple evening cigars and pipe and Buffalo Trace….and hunting for a few bottle of Eagle Rare.

Come November, Disney World vacation. Also going to look for some more Eagle Rare at some liquor stores maybe a Stagg. This will be with my family, her parents , my mom / sisters and their families. We will have dinner with them, but I don’t plan to spend the days with them, definitely not planning my day on what they want to do. They can follow me but I wait for no one. With this type of trip. My first piglet just turned 21, so she and a couple of her sorority sisters are accompanying us and they are trying to hit Epcots “drink around the world”. But she’s such a lightweight I imagine 2 beers in and she’ll be done for. IF, big IF I can break away I’ve always wanted to visit the Randall facility, I’ve never owned a Randall, but just the history of them, I’d like to visit them. And If I can get a day way, I’d LOVE to visit Edward Leedskalnin’s Coral Castle.

Come February. The wife and I…and possibly the kid are going on a road trip. Hit the road and just drive. Plotting going northwest. No agenda, just drive and see sights.

But Boss. You should hide some dog tags or blades on your trips. Those were really fun hunting for tags!!!!

Or send a few blades to traveling hogs to hide across this great county for piglets to try to find along the way!!!!!

We're leaving California end of the month to live and retire in the mountains. That - right there - feels like vacations.

Then, we'll do one to two weeks trailer road-trips - I've been all over the world and my international "bucket list" is empty; but it feels I haven't seen much of the US yet.

Typically looks like this and there is nothing better for both of us:

The biggest question will be which knives to take :)

Happy happy happy for you. California is beautiful but uhhh no for me either

I'm all about getting out in nature and having a campfire. I'm good with offroading and hiking or exploring, but I'm also good with setting up camp and just relaxing around a fire.

I really prefer to be away from people....especially if they have those stupid ass Bluetooth speakers blaring their crappy music.

Coral Castle is Awesome! I’ve been down a couple of times, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of contemplation going on there. It’s certain a bit of a drive from Disney, but I hope you make it down.
