Steve's Digicams

http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html

We all like to see nice pix of khuks.

The reviews each consist of several pages.
The first page is basic specs and overview.
If you stop there you haven't seen the review.

The last page of each review is a set of sample pix.

Several pages of user submitted macro/close-up shots
from various digicams:

Steve's isn't a bad site, though he tends to be more lenient with underperforming cameras. Phil at http://www.dpreview.com is a little harsher, and his site is my favourite for digital cameras. http://www.imaging-resource.com isn't bad, either.

Taking good pics of khuks doesn't demand high-end equipment. Their size means that you don't need great macro on a camera (ability to focus close to your subject), and you don't need a lot of resolution for web images.

I'm a bit of a digital camera geek, so feel free to ask any questions you might have.

ddean, thanks for posting that info, I am thinking about upgrading so very helpfull.
Bill Marsh. Great pics! Thanks for sharing.

I also used http://www.dpreview.com before I purchased my Canon Digital Rebel w/kit...I then bought the Sony F717 after reading on the Sony Forums on dpreview that Circuit City was selling them for $473...I also had used http://www.camcorderinfo.com/ when I was searching for a camcorder that could take good pics...I then bought the Sony DCR-PC330 after reading the reviews on that site....working on taking new khurk pics..untill then here is a shot of a dagger blade I have which is from the Sony f717

Damn... I was thinking about getting a digital camera so as to better facilitate getting rid of some stuff I have but... At the moment I'm not caring about cameras and want to know more about that blade!

Is that damascus? It's certainly an interesting pattern. I don't know too much about knives other than I like 'em though...

Me too. I have been using them since the early days of the Casio swivel and I am still amazed by the technology.

I currently have a Pentax Optio S which is a small pocket sized camera, but of very high quailty, a Nikon 4500 that uses the swivel body design which is really handy for odd viewing positions such as waist level or over the head, and a Pentax *istD digital SLR. The *istD can use all the lenses I have accumulated over the years for my Pentax 35mm cameras.

Unfortunally, I lack photographic talent and a Photographer's Eye, but I have some neat equipment to play with.

steves is excellent for finding out how it performs in the hand for timing, and for a personal review of it

dpreview is excellent for a technical review of the camera's operations, but he can get clouded by technical prowess, even though in use performance is actually very hampering for in the feild photographers

here is a link for an exellent, EXCELLENT reviewer, in the sense that everything he says is very logical, and feild use orientated.

Didn't want to start a new thread,
but for digicam people:

WalMart has NiMH 2000mAh & 2200mAh capacity AA batteries
for excellent prices,
with cheap (inexpensive) charger sets as well.

Four AA $7
Four AA with basic charger $10
Four AA with quick charger & auto adapter $16

Digital Concepts brand

check each item for the labeled battery capacity,
older stock may have the smaller capacity cells.

The Sony CyberShot 3.2mega pixel I got came with a nice charger and an extra set of non-chargeable batteries along with the set of chargeable ones but extra batteries are always good.
I really like this little camera and would recommend it to anyone wanting something easy to take pix with. It even does short videos.
I was checking the website the other day and a good sized memory chip was going for $100.00 even. Not too bad as far as I know.:D
