I'm planning on making a wood display case for a fixed blade. Does anyone have any suggestions on hooks or pins to hold the knife up?

1 .You could do what @tasahbay716 did. Mount two vertical strips of wood, drill two holes, and use two dowels.

2. You could try a magnetic strip or magnets.

3. Look for a some fallen branches that fit the scale of the knife. Mount to back of display case. Not the best pic but you should get the idea.

I like the idea of finding a natural form that will hold the knife. Will the knife be standing or do you intend to lay it more horizontally? Either way - fitting the tip or the edge in a small block of wood and then just supporting balanced from the handle can be done with a simple screw hook. Pretty discrete and secure.

Are you planning on making a shadowbox that will hang from the wall? If that is the case, what I did was to drill two small holes on the shadowbox after positioning the knife in place. In fact, you don't even need a drill you can do it with a nail. Afterwards I used some thin stainless steel wire that would serve as main support for the knife and it is not something that can be easily seen. For secondary support or to set the angle at which the knife will rest I just used a needle hammered into the back of the shadowbox which I then cut. This is one example. You can barely see the wire and the needle:

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm thinking of a shadow box type display that can be hung on the wall. This was a knife I made in a knife making course. Just looking for a nice way to display it on the wall.

I used pegboard covered in felt, and used regular pegboard hangers. Sorry for the poor pics. For the Tantos, the front hanger is right where the choil is, so no contact with the edge (except for the longer one at the top of the 2nd pic...had to wrap the hanger in something)
That looks awesome. That pegboard idea is really great.

I like rare earth magnets. Seen it in a few museums and it's cool to see the knife hanging in air.

I'll have to look into that. I tried one of those big magnetic strips from Harbor Freight and it doesn't do a great job at holding the blade.
