I absolutely love my ASAP, but sometimes I wish I had a means of compressing the pack or having wide straps to attach things. Well, I decided to give this a shot. I double checked the website before I began laying out ideas of how to modify my Mystery Ranch ASAP. You WILL void your warranty if you modify the pack in any permanent way (sewing, cutting, gluing). I lucked out and found the QASM's, which are easily attached and detached from any 1" webbing. ITW makes a whole slew of neat fasteners and buckles, but I believe they only sell wholesale to outfitters. I decided to order two 10ft sections of 1" Mil-Spec 17337 webbing and four ITW QASM buckles. Even if I fail miserably, the overall material cost was cheap.

ITW QASM Buckle x4 ($1.00/ea) = $4.00
ITW Web Dominator x2 ($0.80/ea) = $1.60
Mil-Spec 17337 x 10ft ($0.38/ft) = $3.80
Total: $9.40 + shipping

Attaching the QASM's was a piece of cake, and the webbing was nearly an identical match! I'll have to bring the webbing to a seamstress/embroidery shop and let them fold/sew the ends. I used two feet of webbing and four QASM's, which brought the total material cost for two compression straps to $4.76. Not too shabby considering the cost of manufactured compression straps.

Great job!!

Check out ITW G-Hooks. I use those to make chest packs out of MOLLE pouches. The QASM worked perfectly, but I decided something more low-profile worked better for me on the chest pack.

Those are neat! I'm going to have to order some! Those would be very handy!

I've been thinking of getting an admin panel that can be moved between gear, these would make life very easy! lol

Also, if you don't mind me asking, who made that pouch? It looks like a good size and isn't too bulky.

It is an EOD pouch by HSGI (High Speed Gear Inc.). I cannot find it on their website or the place I usually buy their stuff. All I see listed now is their Mini EOD, which is the same pouch made a little shorter.

EOD specs are listed as 6" X 10" X 2.5".
Mini EOD specs are listed as 6" X 7.25" X 3".

I was thinking about buying a Hill People Gear Kit Bag but wanted to test the idea of wearing one with something I already had. The EOD and Mini EOD are longer and slimmer and work well for my usage, which is to carry some basic items with quick access and not really for quick access to a CCW like the HPG Kit Bag.

We must think very much alike! I have a HPG Kit Bag on my To-Buy List!! lol

I'm a large fellow, so I don't think I want the Recon or Snubby. I'm just going to order the original and see how it fits.
