Hi all. I’ve recently been making display cases for my knives and thought that I would share my ideas with you. Hopefully it will help those who wish to build their own.
The part that I struggled with the most was the holders…. I rolled over in my mind about 6 different ways to secure the knives but found fault with all of them. What I finally settled on is inexpensive and easy to make once you get your saws set up. You can basically make them out of scraps. I made the holders 3/8” thick and allowed a little longer than the length of the knife intended for it for the sides. I beveled each of them at a 10° angle to make the holder tilt upwards in the front to hold the knives and cut the sides also to 10°. Then make and glue in your side pieces and I use a pin nailer to attach them to the display case. For my cases I recessed them in-wall to save space.

I am impressed. Market them!
I have thought a little bit about it, but to be 100% honest about it I’m not looking to make money on these cases. I really enjoyed building what I have so far. I know that if I were to make them to sale it would suck all of the fun out of it for me, if that makes sense. I do this sort of work for a living and it’s a nice change of pace from building cabinets.
Now if someone wanted me to make them one and had an old knife or two they’re looking to get rid of then I’m sure a deal could be made. The design possibilities of these cases are literally endless.

I hear ya bud, that's the way I feel about my leather work. I do it for fun, not another job :)
But your work is good enough :D
