I received this yesterday and think it’s a great knife. I’m loving the look of the nickel bolsters and the rosewood handle color. The Buck shield looks good and adds a nice touch. The blade is an S30V drop point, so it’s different and a nice steel to have, too. The only thing I’d change if ordering from the custom shop would be to add finger grooves. Other than that, I’m loving it. Just wanted to share in case some don’t know about this knife and may be interested in it.

I have a question for you. I see you’re using the Buck sheath. Does the back of the snap on the inside scratch up the knife? I’ve been using a different one for fear that it may happen. I really like the distressed brown one the knife came with.

The sheaths used to come with a small round felt patch that covered the back of the snap.I just place a piece of tape behind the snap.

DR, IMO use a nice fitting tooled open top sheath. An open sheath displays the knife better and if made for a 110, it will never come out. I quit using my factory sheaths many years ago because the sheath "branded" my 110.

Great looking knife and photos, ss. Who's putting on the beautiful polished edge? You or Buck?

That’s what I was worried about happening if using the factory sheath. I was looking at some of those sheaths on Etsy and wondered how well they worked. Do you have a recommendation on one to go with? Thanks for the info.

Those are my "Sunday go to meeting" sheaths. I have one for a 110,112,500 and 501.

DR, if you can pm me I can recommend somewhere online to get a everyday sheath or maybe Makeal can make you one. I buy most of mine from a man in Groesbeck TX but I have to bring a knife to him to get it made.

Sending pm. Wouldn’t let me start new conversation so I left a post on your profile page.

Actually, this compliment and question is for DRLyman as well. Reading too fast and thought sportingspecialist was the OP. Sorry!

Thanks. I sharpened the knife when I got it. I always do that no matter what the brand or model the knife is. That way it’s perfect for me and I also enjoy doing it. I find it relaxing and love the results that I get.
