Do I have a super rare Spyderco "SpyderCard" #149?

It a real shame that this "Spydercard" has been used for many years to cut bait for fishing here in Florida. I took it out from the bottom of my tackle box today where it has lived ever since it was bought new.

This is my question to the Spyderco experts here. I've looked EVERYWHERE for information on the first production run on these knives with ZERO luck. The one I have is numbered "149". Am I to assume that this was the 149th Spydercard made?

Thanks for any info that you may be able to give me. Here are a couple of pictures.

I wouldn't feel bad at all there not particularly rare or anything, use it and enjoy it! really I can't give you allot of info but....the designer was Eduard Bradichansky, the model is a SC01, and they started making them in 1999.

Hope it helps!

Thank you for the info 9blades! I've seen the early ones (non numbered) selling for $200 on eBay...actually sold at that price! Pretty stupid for a $30 knife that's not rare :)

Wait a minute haha, there not quite selling for $200....search "spydercard" one fleabay and use the filter "competed listings";)

The number is a Spyderco collectors club number, not an indication about beeing a limited first run. In that way your spydercard is unique.
The designer was jewish i believe, he also designed the shabaria. Eduard Bradichanski. IIRC he was killed by terrorists in Israel.

Thanks for your info Jim. I bought this prior to being married in 2000....so I may have bought this late in 1999 from an Army Navy surplus store in Orlando Florida.

I'll try not to be a smart A$$ myself haha. but just because 2 sold for $200 dosn't mean that's the running price, also the three you linked me to are all NIB/LNIB....and lastly the majority of the ones that sold, sold for around $80-$130.

also we bolth have to realize we are talking about EBAY prices which compared to what they go for on the forums or from a dealer can be drastically different....just my 0.02 on the subject:thumbup:

You will have no argument from me on this...that's for damn sure. New in box or not, those were stupid prices for these. Back to my tackle box it goes :)

SMKW had them on close out for about $15 at the end of the first run.
