Does This 110 Look Odd???

I agree. The scales usually have a different look, and the knife is on top of the most faked Buck box.

Another give-away is the length of the box. Every 110 I've taken out of the box has had a sheath that hadn't been "folded" yet. In other words, the box is long another for the sheath to go in with the flap straight and flat.

The pins all look the same size and look like brass--unless my eyes are deceiving me.

And the snap on the sheath is plain, I think.

Seems to me this just might be the first of a bunch of pretty darn realistic 110 fakes.

This would fool most people (would not fool the guys on this forum, but normal people would probably fall for it).

Whoever's making them wouldn't just make one or two.....there will probably be a flood coming if it isn't already out there.

Perhaps. As near as I can see, the blade has what appears to be an '09 date stamp and the scales are certainly not of that vintage. BUT, it is possible that the knife was rehandled; scales appear walnut to me. On the other hand, the box style is '03-'05 vintage and looks to be somewhat shelf worn rather than being newly made, and I have seen "short" boxes of this vintage. So why would someone go to the trouble of manufacturing a brand new "fake" knife and then put it into an older, worn box?? Doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If you are going to conterfeit both the knife and box and sell it as new, why not put it into a pristine "fake" box as well? Lastly, I have seen several legitimate sheaths that do not have the Buck stamp on the snap. Bottom line: I'm not convinced it's fake, but I'm not gonna buy it either.;)

I haven't seen any NEW sheaths with a plain stamp......I have seen the old Atchisons with the plain stamp.

Also.....the blade stamp is off--it seems tilted slightly and the letters in the 110 and U.S.A. seem jumbled.

But......that could be from a distorted picture, I suppose.

Hard to say if it's a fake, but it sure is odd.

Why would someone buy a questionable 110 off the bay for $45 when one could be had for same or less that is legitimate? I'm baffled by people that buy and sell stuff like this.

Those scales actually look pretty good,like Tin said, maybe a re-scale...and sitting at the odd angle at first the blade didn't look right to me, but close up shots can do funny things to perspective...funny how you can look at a thing and depending on your mindset get different conclusions....

Definately a fake,iit has brass bolsters but they are way thinner than that of a genuine 110,also not quite the right shape on the bolsters,and paper thin liners,nice fake though it would most likely fool a lot of people.I bet once you handled/open and closed it you'd see the difference.

It appears to be the same sheath as this one and I know for a fact that it's a fake (as is the 110).

It's especially obvious when you compare a real one to the fake. There's also a lot of difference in the feel and look of the leather in hand. The fake feels a bit like cardboard.

The seller says it's from his late brother's collection and he has no paperwork or knowledge of history other than that.

I requested more pics.

The distance between the rocker pin and the front slab rivet is off compared to a normal 110.

That's a difference that has been noted on other good fakes from China.

The slab also reminds me of the slabs on the best Chinese fakes.

He replied to my questions as well...at least there is a 100% money back guarentee...

It's definitely a fake. Look at these 2 pictures the seller sent to me. the first one shows a nail nick that is too far down toward the tip;

In this one look at the U.S.A. There is only 1 dot and it's after the letters. The box is also not single ply like the boxes should be;
