Not revealing details now but I have plans to build a few knives of my own and am looking for where to get some double-row bearings. It looks to me like CKF, Reate, and Kevin John all use the same double-row system, so I am wondering if anyone knows where they get them.

Have you.....googled it? That's usually a real good place to start. If you can't find it that way MSC, Enco, Grizzly might have some of the things you're looking for. I'm assumming this is for a folder and not some weird detent system for a sheath on a fixed blade.

Or, you could just give it the college try and try making them yourself so you can make them to fit and make sure they are high quality.

Yes, it's for a folder. I tried googling it (searched 5 pages in using various wording), knifekits.com, alphaknifesupply.com, usaknifemaker.com and the sites you suggested and didn't find anything.

China. Contact reate and say you need a new set of bearings and see what they say.

Mcmastercar? However it's spelled I know it's an almost industrial like company but they have one of everything maybe they'll have something similar enough and if not call them they'll know where to get you a few pounds

Some were up on Aliexpress lately for something crazy like $5 a set.

Checked aliexpress but all I could find were some counterfeit Shiros that used them. I'm thinking aliexpress or some other Chinese site would be the most likely place.

Where "Kevin John" got them? Probably stole them from somebody.

Search thrust bearings. My quick search did not bring up any double row, but then I'm not really motivated enough to search too deep. ;)

I have never seen multi row thrust bearings off the shelf. So to answer your question, you make them. Here is an A3 model's interior by Andre Thorburn and Andre van Heerden.

Good luck getting 45 balls on each side with Thrust bearings. If you do let us all know.

He's looking for caged bearings, they are staggered double row. They are made by a chinese company using standard 1/16th balls, press fitted into a plastic, not sure which, probably nylon. The thrust bearings are expensive and RJ martin uses them a lot.

The only way you can get them is order in batch from aliexpress from what I gathered. David or Reate knives might be able to help you but honestly the extra rows do not make a difference. It's all about the smoothness of your counterbore, smoothness on your blade flat, lock geometry & pressure and finally your detent. Ceramic detent ball will make your knife much smoother than multi row bearings because that is what is dragging across the blade face.

Thanks for getting the conversation back on topic Pittknife.
Yeah I don't want to use IKBS or any loose bearing system. Maybe I'll try making my own system in the future but for now I'm focusing on other things and I know the type I'm after works well. I took apart my CKF Sukhoi to get a closer look and they are 16 1.5mm (look like 1/16 but they are Chinese produced so I doubt it) ceramic bearings per side staggered; 15mm OD and 6mm ID. I have seen both grey and white cages but from looking at the very slight moulding marks they look like they are produced the exact same way. I'll keep watching aliexpress for some to come up.

Im Chinese and i think i saw this double row bearing sometime earlier on taobao. I can check it back if you want.

found it. They sell it at 8 cny for each bearing, approximately 2.5 usd each pair. it's ceramic balls with plastic holder.

Any way you can order some and offer them for sale here on BF? I'd buy some!

yep i can buy a couple and ship it to you, but it is spring break here and the seller won't ship until mid February. Considering the long duration of shipping from China to the States it may take around 45 days before you get it.

There is another carrier ships to USA within only days but they charge like 50 bucks and its just not cost effective.

let me know what you're thinking.
