Found a couple old threads on this, but where did my saved draft go?

Thanks in advance,

Winston

Sometimes I'll save a draft and start surfing through other threads only to find my draft missing. To find it I'll keep hitting my browser back button until I get to the thread I'd started to post in, then scroll to the "Write your reply..." box at the bottom to find my saved draft. I just did that here, leaving this thread, and it worked just fine.

This. It is saved in the thread in which it was written.

Perhaps annoying when you can't find it, but arguably better so you don't post something in the wrong thread.

Appreciated,

I did try that but still didn't show up, maybe it times out or something.

Seems like there used to be an icon you could click to take you to saved drafts, but I could totally be remembering wrong.

Thanks again,

Winston

It appears to me that the software automatically saves what is in the reply box (to browser cache?). Regardless, you can come back to the thread and still find the reply (likely within a time limit).

It is not clear to me what the "Save draft" option does. However. the "Delete draft" option seems to remove what was saved.

An alternative to relying on the "Save draft" function in the forum is to create/edit posts with a text editor. I use Notepad. and copy/paste when I am ready to post.

As long as I've hit "Save draft" and haven't closed BF I can always get back to my "reply". I don't think it's automatically saved in the browser's cache as only what's been entered prior to hitting Save is there when I return. What I may have subsequently written after having saved won't be.

For my part, if I remember to, I'll highlight and copy the text before leaving. If I have a lot there that I don't want to risk losing, I'll paste it into a word doc. I'll also open another tab to search for something else at BF that I may want to find to recall in my draft so as not to have to leave the page's text box.

Pretty sure Bob and I are on the same page, I've gone back to a window before and seen it there but I think they time out. I think this is mostly specific to new posts, since to Chazzy's point I've seen replies saved across the forum when I close and reopen a tab.

I was hoping one of the tech mods would chime in, but I think this one has run it's course.

Thanks all for the responses,

Winston
