Dremel Compound 421 Polishing Compound

Can I use this on my strop. Or is it meant for jewelery.

This is the red compound (iron oxide), and it likely won't be very effective for stropping most hardened knife blades. Iron oxide is pretty soft, compared to compounds like chromium oxide (green), aluminum oxide (usually white), silicon carbide (black), diamond and others, which are better for hardened steel. Red compound is generally intended for softer metals, such as for jewelry, brass, etc., as well as for plastics.

FYI, some time back, I did try it on one of my strops; couldn't see much benefit at all, over just stropping on bare leather.

Thank you guys . When I use my buffing wheel I do have the white and green brick for my plastics and metals. I just had a mini for my drill/dremel with the little red jar which I will keep it for my wife's jewelery and use my strop bare. Which has been just fine.

Thanks again!
