I have completed the frame for my No Weld Grinder and have started looking for some wheels. I am in need of a tracking wheel and a drive wheel bored for a 5/8" shaft. For the time being, I figured I would use a 4" contact wheel and a 2" contact wheel on the platen arm. Any suggestions or recommendations on where to purchase wheels as the budget is extremely tight.

Thank you,

From what I have seen all suppliers are close in pricing on the smaller size wheels. It is important to realize if they have besarings included or not. Frank

When I built mine 2 years ago I couldn't find prices better than those offered by Tracy Mickley.

You can go cheaper on the contact wheels if you use plastic wheels, but they're still a couple of hundred. I'd save another couple of weeks or a month and get the good stuff.

I have the budget wheels from Tracy at USAKnifemaker. I built a GIB...The wheels don't have an inner sleeve so there is some friction when the inner raceway pushes in when the nuts/washers are tightened... The wheels stop spinning after a couple turns when turned by hand...
If you order from Tracy be sure to order the machine bushing washers too..
I'll eventually upgrade from mine. I ended up pulling the bearings and taking a piece of 1/2"ID steel and making an inner sleeve to reduced the friction.. It helped some, but the wheels don't roll as smoothly as the tracking wheel that came with an inner sleeve....
Over all though, I'm happy with the cost as it's what I could afford. I'm ordering an 8" or 10" wheels soon and will get the Beaumont wheels....
Your build is looking nice! Way to go!
If I had it to do over, I would have just ordered an 8" and a 2" or 3" wheel for my multi platen and not gotten the 2-2" wheels to start.
BTW, Jamie will sell you just the platen pieces if you need them for you build....

Great job so far MHill.

@ fluidsteel, excuse my ignorance but who is it that sells just the platen pieces? Is Jamie at Beaumont?

Thanks!
