Just had an unauthorized payment sent out to Dropbox Ireland for almost €100.

I thought it might have been a phishisg email, but I saw the money was actually missing.

I reported it and changed my password, but now I can't log on (and I'd love to remove my credit card)!

Anyone had something similar happen who can comfort me?

Thats the worst. Ive had credit cards get taken over and payments sent all over the world. Luckily it was small testing payments sent and i closed and reported it right away as i watch my accounts obsessively.

Your credit card was used or bank account to send paymnet to dropbox in ireland....or.....im confused.

I had about 100 Swiss francs in the account, and it's gone along with another 14 or so from the credit card.

Should I call and cancel my card and claim the charge was fraudulent, or wait for PayPal?

Id go overboard...but thats me. Id rather deal with the headaches of cancelling, reporting, closing etc than the headaches of more money disappearing.

I received a paypal receipt email saying Dropbox Ireland charged me 99 Euros. It cleared out the 100 francs I had in my paypal account, plus the rest (about 14 francs) that was automatically taken from my card to make up the difference.

Hope that clears that up.

Get on the phone Armadew! Hate to see this garbage happen and very glad it wasn't substantially more $!!
Let us know how this works out please??
Joe

PS....PP receipt??? Can you file a dispute with them for this??

Call the bank first anytime you notice something wrong with a specific card. They issued it and will guarantee your funds, or they should.

Stolen CC info is scary stuff man, it happened to me once aswell. Someone stole my CC info and went for a small shopping spree in NY. File a dispute with your bank asap, and follow up with filing with paypal, because pp can directly take the money from the thief.

In my situation I got all my money back from my bank I just had to jump through hoops.

Good luck man.

Yes, not to scare you, but anytime money is gone and you don't know why, jbmonkey has the right idea!
Call the credit card company, they're 24 hour I think!

One of the times I was glad to be over my limit...
I noticed charges to Facebook on my M/C statement. Only for a $1.20. Another for $1.35 or something like that.
2 small charges to see if the charge will go through... And then they went for $300 approx.
But there wasn't enough credit left.

I might never have noticed, except I have nothing to do with with Facebook.
Don't use it,meant want it. The scary thing in your situation is the credit card making up the difference...
Yes, please sir!
Get on the phone & start the claim!!
Best of luck to you!!

Well said Sixx!!
It happened to me a few years ago, small charges on my card. Now, any charge to my account under $5 is frozen and they call me.
Sucks.
Hope Armadew checks back in and let's us know what happened.
Joe

Sorry for the radio silence folks! Paypal has returned the money back to my account and I have removed the card. All seems well so far!

I ha d similar issue a few years ago. Paypal returned all my money, & I no longer have any accounts linked to Paypal. I stopped using Paypal.
I live in Australia, & all the thieves appeared to be in USA, but that would be easy to fake. Some had set up a serial charge, like I was receiving a magazine each month.
