Anyone have any thoughts on this video? I have heard about this working but I have never seen or heard of anyone really doing it.

Seems like to me that it's kind of a bad idea to be showing it done on TV, you know the old adage 'stupid monkey see, stupid monkey do'... I could think of better ways to close a wound.

Can't listen to the audio but that is one of the dumbest things I've seen them do. Do NOT close a wound in the field unless you're so far away from civilization that you will indeed bleed to death if you don't. Say, downed in the middle of the alaskan wilderness. The problem is getting the wound clean. You need to irrigate the S out of a wound before you close a wound. Why on earth they're showing this on tv is beyond me. Especially on a cut that small. Throw some duct tape on it and get to a hospital.

Also just for the record I did post this to debate the show since that has already been done here I think, more so just the action.

Now he has a 3rd degree burn, one less bullet and zero credibility.
 
Criminey!! Thats STUPID!

Just incresed the chance of a debilitating, and possibly fatal infection by several hundred percent. Just about as dumb as the cauterization and wound closure with gunpowder in one of the Rambo movies.

Pure Holyweird lunacy.

I can't view the video, but that scene in Rambo was rediculous. As for closing a wound by cauterization, only if you are in the middle of freakin nowhere and have no other way to stop the bleeding.
 
I can't watch the vid now, but is this new material? I think I watched the previous episodes and I don't recall this.
 
One of Mr. Canterbury's very first videos was on the topic of sutures.
To demonstrate the process he sliced open his own finger with a Mora and and ran a bit of thread through it. Funny guy.

The only thing that video was missing, besides the results of the moronic stunt, was Bear Grylls dropping in from a papachute and drinking his own pee. Dual Survival has officially "Jumped The Shark" in my book.
 
I can't believe these two guys are doing stupid crap like this, I understand they are trying to teach survival techniques but I think they could come up with another way.
 
If I was Cody I would have made Dave ruin his more expensive knife, I don't give a dang if it is a $10 Mora
 
Burning on top of a wound = BURN and WOUND. Worse probably than you started with. This show just lost the modicum of respect I had for it.
 
I'm sure in the real show they will most likely advertise this as a highly risky/last ditch situation move. They are just showing alternate techniques. Crazy? Looks like it! However, they just showed me something I would of never known. I for one really enjoy their show.

FYI, cutting your own head off will cure a severe migraine.:rolleyes:

There are lots of "alternate techniques" that can cause serious problems and possibly lead to death. Hopefully they won't show too much stuff people would be better off not knowing.

At least the guys who make the Jackass movies are truthful in their advertising...."Dual SURVIVAL" is false advertising. They should call it "Survivor Jackasses"...they won't have to vote anyone off the island...they would probably die off on there own if left there long enough.
 
Welp, Dual Survival just took a turn for the stupid. Guess it only took them one full season. Not too bad.
 
You guys, everyone of you has forgotten that this is a show.

It does not matter that this is a stupid technique,
all that matters is that they have a way and means to
entertain the audience. It works, look how it ended up
on this forum, where we debate what they did, it does
not make a difference that we are saying they did it poorly.

A main part of the viewers, mostly ignorant about the wilderness
and bushcraft, are going to talk about this to their buddies the day
after they see it. Which in turn creates more viewers, which generates
more money.It is entertaining, nothing more.

It is a whole different story as to what the bulk of the audience will
take away from this and how they may use this information.
 
clean out with water, if you have a syringe you can flush it out with that, provided you have a first aid kit, close wound with wound closure strips, then cover with a bandage. If no first aid kit, you could clean out with water and cover with a clean shirt/
