Has anyone seen this show? I catch it now and then on Discovery I believe. I find it to be refreshingly down to earth.

yeah i like it alot!
always get some good laughs too.
really like how they don't pretend it's anything but a game.

do they expect us to believe any country in the world would let a guy with a bag on his head through customs? it's entertainment, and occasionally I learn something.

my favourite episode was the one where the old guy just camped out on the beach and relaxed.

Yeah, that aspect of it is pretty farfetched. So is the idea of one improperly dressed guy walking out of the wilderness up to some non-English-speaking local or village without getting shot at or chased off. Yup, all staged in advance. Still it is entertainment, and succeeds at that more often than not.

Likewise. I think that's the last episode I saw. He knows what's up.

I quite enjoy it . its called survive that in the UK . the second series as just started here and they have brought two new guys in to the game . one guy who lives with a bear and an ex cop . matt Graham from thet show took over from Cody in Dual survival .

I've caught parts of 2-3 episodes. The last one was the older guy on the beach. That was an amusing twist. The episode that I caught prior to beach dude was a British guy. Now that was interesting, and he went through some rough stuff. I think that the first one that I saw was the black guy running around with a pink rabbit or something. The guys seem to take it all partialy serious with vital sign monitors etc., then they toss in the stuffed animals for a laugh and some ribbing. :D

Yes I recognized the Dual Survival guy. He was the quieter fellow that ran around in the leather breech clout, or whatever you call it.

Season 1 is available on youtube for those of you, like me, who don't have televisions.

I caught an episode the other day with Matt Graham dropped off by the Russian border, in Finland maybe ? It was an interesting episode for me because it showed how even an extremely experienced and knowledgeable outdoor survival enthusiast can still struggle. There was a lot of mention of Karma with Matt as he seems to be a genuinely humble and friendly man. But my point is that this episode took some of my hero worship of the outdoor Gurus and brought them back down to earth for me. I get no pleasure of watching a near fail but it makes all of this stuff a bit more real for me. When I see an elite "bushcrafter" (whatever the h... that is) struggle, I tend to cut myself some slack in all this. As I said previously, I find this show to be refreshing. A touch serious, a touch humorous. I like it.
