Anybody know about Dunham Shoes? They are owned by New Balance, which is one of the few companies that makes a lot of wide sneakers. I didn't realize they have a dress shoe\boot line. They also appear to be all available in wide sizes. I don't like to buy on line, though without being able to try them on unless I have an idea of the fit.

They seem to be fairly pricy but if they are good they are exactly what I'm looking for.

You can see them in person at a New Balance store.

My mother has purchased a couple pairs of them and speaks pretty highly of their quality and comfort. With shoes, my experience has been you get what you pay for. I had an eye opening experience when I bought my first pair of good hiking boots. They were hand made in Germany by Lowa. These were rather expensive but, I have worn them hard for many years and they are still basically good as new. With my regular $80~100 boots, i'd get maybe 6 months out of them before they were totally shot and headed for the trash bin.

If you aren't near a New Balance store, check out online places with great return policies.

I have a couple pair of Dunham dress shoes and they fit well and wear well. Their hiking boot line has been around a long time.

They're durable and they're comfy enough. Other than that, nothing really spectacular ever jumped out at me. It looks and feels like a cheap shoe, but it's durable given that I never managed to break one after a couple of years. Would be nice for a work shoe if you really beat the things up.

For the same price range I'd stick with my Wolverine/Bates, though admittedly they tend to have a downside of being very slippery on wet surfaces due to their Vibram outsoles(ironically, super grippy on any and all dry surfaces). They're also MUCH more comfy and look very nice.

I've been wearing the Battery Parks for about 6-7 years now. I weigh about 270 and I wear a pair out in about a year. Love em though.
