I posted this in our marathon thread:

EDC - What's in Your Pocket(s)?? (post #1129)

It's Time I paid tribute to my EDC watch :D

I like digital watches - I know people who detest them and mock them - but for me they give the functionality I want without over complex dial/faces.

I don't deliberately choose cheap watches - but am always on the look-out for great value for money.

Timex.jpg

The (obviously) older watch on the right was bought back in October/1997 - so that's 7+ years and it's swam with me at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia - been touring in China twice - out in the serious downpour in Scotland in January when even "serious" hi-tech rain-gear got soaked through.

...and you can see it still keeps on "ticking" :p - albeit the digits will dim/disappear if I now press any button (just needs a new battery) - but that's 7+ years! - and I only replaced it with another Timex last November because the bracelet broke........ and I wanted a new watch......

Timex at one time were a joke to me -
even with the advent of the LCD digital watch - Casio far out stripped almost any other maker in terms of bang for the buck, and I was a confirmed Casio watch wearer -
until one day I started to see Timex digitals with what they called "All Day Indiglo" - that iridescent green reflective background - even then they still were pretty cheesey and cheap looking.

The Ironman/Trialthlon series started to get my attention for usable functions - although most of the time they were still a bit "gimmicky" - then they started to get better looking - or shall we say less cheesey......

To the point where I was tempted enough to buy one - hey, they were just around $30 for even an up-market one.............

So that model # 62947 Ironman Triathlon has served me well for over 7 years on the same stock battery.... and retired because its bracelet broke - I replaced it with a very similar looking model (# 53952) and I am very pleased with that too, it's easily available at places like Wal-Mart for just under $33.

When at work or working in the yard I wear a Casio Edifice. This is my beater.
On my own time, I'm wearing my Omega SMP. :D

My EDC watch is my Citizen 300m Ecozilla Diver's Watch...That monster is as big & heavy as a man-hole cover, but I like it.:D.

I was a timex guy for the longest time, mostly because of the "glow" feature... until on one the alarm broke (analog) and two lost their glow ability, even with new batteries.

Anyways... I switched to a CASIO tough-solar G-Shock (Atomic timekeeping) digital watch and it is fantastic (has a glow feature).

I would like an analog version of the above, but they are too expensive at the moment.

I still like timex (and they did keep on ticking), but losing the very features I got them for (analog alarm and "glow") 'ticked' me off.

rolex stainless GMT 11 burgundy/black bezel most of the time, TAG professional stainless the rest of the time. say what ya want about TAG bu i got the pro brand new in '95 for about $250 and its really been a good one, wore it all the time till i got the GMT, also have had good luck with the GMT.

also have a panarai GMT but my wife is wearing it now, imho looks funny with the big face on a woman, but she loves it!! i got it from a bud in about '97 who got it overseas when he was in the service, paid $1K, which is about what he paid, helluva deal for me imho.

Still this one, and I like it more each day.

In the past I got perfect service from various G-Shocks and wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for good accuracy and absolute reliability. Now with Tough Solar and Atomic timekeeping they're only getting more high-speed.

IWC aquatimer
usually the bezel is on tho. :D

I have five that I rotate, but this one gets about 75% of the wrist time.

Cant' tell you how much I like this Omega! For an automatic, it's accuracy is stunning (looses only one second a day!).

In a simalar thread a couple weeks back, I posted the other four watches in my rotation. See them HERE! :D

Hey Ron, thats a great looking Oris in the other post. Where did you find that. :)

I have two Oris watches over there. An XXL Classic (which was in nearly new condition when I picked it up) and a Classic Radius (which is an older model that came to me in 80-90% condition and after a full refurbish, looks new!). To which one are you referencing? Both were acquired in trades a year or two ago.

Here's the pic I posted in the other thread, my one and only EDC watch, Breitling Chrono Avenger:

Temper,

Nice watches...Does your wife have any sisters?.:D.:D...Or, does your mom & dad need a 50 year-old foster son?.:D.:D.

Switched to a Sea-Dweller last week. So far I'm beyond pleased, its a true edc 24x7 so I'll get to see how it holds up under never-ending use.

Taking pics of a watch is more difficult than a knife!

You're not kidding! I only get one good shot per 20ish shots. Some "shoots" have been a complete bust. :(

But when I get one...it's good! :) But the Omega has been the toughest because of the crystal.

Rolex Explorer, the original style, pure class :) I like Seiko Divers bc I can't yet afford an Explorer or Submariner, IMO the Seikos are the next best thing for a tough watch, just more affordable than the king of watches.

I love both of mine and they are the only things I wouldnt hand over to a mugger. I bet I would want to hold onto them more than he (or his friends) would want it.

The great things about them is that you can beat the hell out of them and they just shrug it off. I used to wear mine at work (Galvanising plant) :D
