Just as knife guys carry beater knives for abusive tasks, carpenters carry beater chisels in their nail bags for similar purposes. I've had these old Stanley's for at least 40 years and they've been floating around in my jobsite carpenter's box all dull and beat up forever. I figured I'd re-grind the bevels and sharpen 'em up on my DMTs to keep in the shop as my good chisels live in the truck in the jobsite box. You can see how short that inch-and-a-halfer has gotten over the years from countless sharpenings taking out diggers and chips.
They're not pretty, but they're sharp again and now I won't have to go out to the truck when I need a chisel.
I posted pics of this one elsewhere this morning, so I guess I'll just go with my StarTac today. Here he is along with his brother StarBenza 25 in a file photo from our deck in Vermont. (Got a few rainy days in a row here on-Cape, so it's likely there'll be no fresh pics for a bit.)
