I've been working on a santoku-ish design kitchen knife. This is my first attempt at a kitchen knife and I drew these plans myself. I had initially planned on a wa style handle but I don't think that's going to happen. The tang is yet to be cut down because as-is I could still make scales. As you'll see in the pictures, a thick handle is going to put the user's fingers too close to the cutting surface. I'm thinking that if I regrind the edge profile starting from mid blade up towards the tip it may save my idea. This would force the user's arm up higher and give clearance for the fingers. Thoughts on how to save this?

A thicker handle will help keep the index finger from sliding to far forward! ——-Inmo, Wa handle has nothing on a full tang. You can shape the full tang to any dimensions you like...also you only need about 1/3 or less of the amount of removal at the toe of the blade to lift the rear. Removal a little then rock it on a flat surface to check
