Hi All,
I just got my Edge Pro Apex & I'm more than glad I have it

Well, anyways, how do I clean or wash the stones? Just water + brush + soap doesn't seem to help. Some abrasive cleaner may be?

You just need to rinse them off and use a paper towel or cloth to wipe them. Water stones wear too fast to fill up unlike other like other types. The fact that they wear means fresh new particles are exposed keeping the cutting rate fast.

Basically Roger is correct. The only problem I've run into is that if you don't keep the stones good and wet while you're using them, they can gum up a little. In that case you can use COMET cleaner, a stiff nylon bristle brush and hot water. That should take care of it. If that still doesn't work, take some of the sand that came with your kit and lightly "re-surface" the stone on a flat surface. This will not only clean the face of the stone but will also "true" it as well...making it flat again.

Hope this helps,
Cecil

The most important thing to remember when using water stones is not cleaning them, it's keeping them flat. The softer lower grit stones will dish-out fairly easily, if you don't flatten then (using the sand Ben provides or a sheet of 120 wet-dry sandpaper on a flat surface) you run the risk of putting a bad grind on your knife. Hope this helps.

Gator,

I just rinse the stone with water, and it doesn't take much water at all!
It is important to keep the stones flat and the other post told how to do it, it is very easy to do!
You will love your Apex, I use my Pro at least 4/5 times a week, usually much more.
