if it isn't stamped into the blade is there anything else that would make the vic sportsman i just got an "elinox" sak?
i've checked a few links but i'm thinking its a plain old vic...not that theres anything wrong with that.
any info appreciated .
cheers.

elinox usually got metal inlay economy shape shield and the blade tang stamped with elinox and something like switzerland and rostfrei... any picture to help identification?

If it is NOT stamped with Elinox it will not be an Elinox knife. Some folks confuse the older triangular shield with it ALWAYS being on Elinox knives. Many economy Victorinox knives have that same shield.

Elinox knives in alox were made from 1957-1974. Then there were plain cellidor scaled models made, usually as an economy line with hot stamped shields, but not always.

thanks for the info-as i suspected.
it does have a series of swiss flags emblazoned alongone scale-so a bit unusal & therefore appealing.
cheers.

Does it look anything like this?

If so then it was a special order knife for a company in Switzerland. There are some really nice scales out there on special ordered SAK's.

There is another one but I can't find the photo for it now.

not quite -it was this aspect that appealed to me more than the whole elinox thing.
cheers

looks like modern 84mm sportsman or tourist in red nylon eco scale... whats the stamps on the blade tang? Victorinox switzerland or swiss made?

then it must be a modern sportsman eco line nylon scale... may be a late 90's or early 2000's-- pre the Victorinox swiss made stainless stamp... the flag decoration prints aint common... elinox might be from 60's or 70's but dont quote me on that... enjoy your sportsman buddy!

That's the other knife I was trying to find my photo of. Its a special order knife for some Swiss company, I forget which one. Its pretty nice with that design. The hot stamped shield indicates it is an economy knife as has already been said by others here. There are some pretty interesting scale designs floating around. I saw one like yours but with white and black soccer balls design all over. I can post a link to the photo if you want to see it. Its not mine.

i liked the look of it -i just don't kniow why they tried to flog it off as elinox when nothing about the knife suggests this.neutral feedback has been posted.
cheers
