I've been doing a ton of reading while I sit for my cqc7 to get here and I came to the conclusion that Emerson isbthe most love/ hate knife company I've came across. I don't get it

Had to look them up.
I don't hate them, but their knives looks a bit budK.

Also people dislike how he patented the wave.

Eh I don't care, no skin off my cheeks.

Opinions are like that certain orifice. Mine smells like roses.

Love my Emersons. Wish i didnt work in an office so i could carry them more often.

"Where there is much light, there are many shadows."
EKI sells every knife they make.

And makes a new factory to make more knives even better.

"Where there is much light, there are many shadows."
I need to find a place for this line. I don't want to lose it.

Love the ergo and wave feature, but fit & finish leaves plenty to be desired, steel choice also seems antiquated, especially at the asking prices... Not winning the bang-for-buck category for sure... considering many other Made-in-USA blades sell for lower prices, featuring vastly superior workmanship and better material...

Wow, I have never had a problem with any of my Emersons in fit & finish. Steel choice is excellent, it's just not the latest & greatest. Emerson sticks with a known steel that he can grind and heat treat without fail. Price? Buy from a reliable dealer or off the Exchange, and beat MSRP every time.

I found that I love the build quality and nature of Emersons. No frills, no gimmicks, and they're just my taste. It's like Scotch vs Bourbon vs Canadian Whiskeys. All the same but totally different. My taste just lies with Emersons. If someone has a problen with that, they can take ti someone who cares (which, spoiler alert, that person is not me).

On another note, I hope Ernie reads this one comment......I'd LOVE to see the Hattin make a comeback.

I've had "better" knives in my collection and curse them from time to time, but I keep on buying them.

Try one out. If you don't like it sell it. Black g10 liner locks do get old. I wish their offerings evolved a bit more. I regret selling my cqc8 though. Won't sell my super roadhouse.

I don't buy into hype and opinions too much. I buy and use what I like and that is it. It may cost you in the buy it to try it area but getting something in hand is the only way you will know for sure.

I can think of many, many, many more companies that have far more haters. You might need to look around more. I own a lot of knives, but I have carried an Emerson on and off for years. I just love the design and they are hard to beat. I also buy what I like, and I don't care about the hype.

The designs and ergonomics are what draws me to Emersons. In my experience with knife companies and their designs, they all have models we like and don't like, and I've ended up with several designs I really like from Spyderco (Military, Air, PPT, Manix2), KAI (ZT550, Speedform), Benchmade (580, Dejavoo), etc. With EKI however, while I don't like all their designs, they have more models that I really love over the other companies (6,7,9,10, SOCFK-A, Persian, A-100/mini, PSARK, A136, Super KBit).

To summarize, while I really like the designs on some of the knives I have from other companies (I own some that I just feel ok with), I LOVE almost every single one of my Emersons.

A high jumper broke the world record. Someone in the audience asked him how he did it.

He said, I threw my heart, over the bar, and the rest of me followed.

Ernie puts his heart into his work.👍

I'll be honest....When I buy a new Emerson, it really needs a break-in period. My Mini Commander was stiff, lock up was too early for me and the G10 was like sandpaper. After some adjustments and obsessive opening and closing while watching midget porn, daily edc etc, it is a smooth as butter, vault solid lockup and and just a fantastic knife.

People want perfection from the get go....and while EK offers that as a tool, it takes some time to become truly perfect.

Design, ergonomics, reputation earned with real users, the man, his family, his beliefs, his American company.

As noted they sell every knife they make; many now at EKI list price.

My comment on the steel is nobody knows better how to heat treat and grind performance into 154 CM than EKI. It is sharp, it is easy to sharpen, reasonably corrosion resistant. I carry knives in S30V, S35VN, S90V, CTS 204P, etc. and in the end can tell very little difference between them and 154 CM.

I am nearly 68 years old and have been carrying pocket knives everyday since I was 8. I have owned damned near every brand and certainly more than 500 of them in 60 years (I admit I have a problem). I like EKI, ZT, Spyderco, Benchmade, Strider, even CS, and have owned many customs. In the end if I could only have one production knife it would be my 2004 CQC-12.

Haters gotta hate as Taylor sings. Many people hate success. Many people "ride for the brand" and can't see past their favorite.

Since the factory moved and was updated , I have not seen any quality issues. My Appalachian came broken in. Both the Sheepdog and Iron Dragon come with bearings that allow free swinging action with very tight lock up. Plus if you ever have a problem with an Emerson, no ones customer service is better.
