Okay, so I got an Emerson combat karambit for Christmas. I wanted to do a brief text review of this lovely little knife for all to see, because I think it merits praise. So lets cover all the aspects of it in order of what I noticed.
Fit and Finish: Fit and finish is near perfect. The only "flaw" was one of the scales being slightly off center. I fixed that in about 2 minutes with a screwdriver. The blade is gorgeous, and there's not play anywhere. The liners are attractive and almost look stonewashed in places.
Lock Up: Tight, prompt, and easy to work. Locks up a little tighter when I wave it, but not by much. Liners are flush and do not devant save where they are supposed to.
Initial Sharpness: This knife came out of the box hair popping sharp, so I left it as is. It's almost frighting how it seems to bite into anything it touches.
Misc: Very grippy, pleasing to the eye yet not gaudy or frilly, opens smoothly, pocket clip came pristine, but I roughed it up a little because I like the look of worn black oxide coating. Wave is intuitive but not obstructive.
Overall score: On a scale of 1 to 10, this knife earns a 10! It may not be a utility piece, but if you need protection, look no farther then the Emerson karambit. It's quick, well built, made in America, razor sharp, and stylish to boot.
P.S. The chisel grind on this has me set on a CQC-7 for the next Emerson I buy, expect a review on that when I get it.
