Epoxy & Brass?

I have a Trunord brass compass and would like to add a lanyard to it. Unfortunately the model I ordered has no way to attach one. I'm thinking I could epoxy a disc with a lanyard hole protrusion to the bottom of the compass. Would you trust this? Anyone have a better idea?

roughen the brass with ~325 grit sandpaper, then clean with acetone.
The epoxy should hold if the applied stress is parallel to the joint.
Use the high strength epoxy from the hardware store, not the quick set.
I think you mean like this, where the green is your compass, the gray is disk you will attach and will have the hole for the lanyard. IF so, I think it will work. The larger the section that attaches to the compass, the stronger it will be.

I made a G-10 key/zip fob to mount a button compass in. I use two small pieces of G-10, drilled a hole one piece for the compass to sit in and used the second piece as a back and epoxied it all together. It has held up pretty well for a few years so far.

The diagram above is exactly what I have in mind, except the disc will be the same size as the compass. Thanks for the help, guys. :)

Yes , rough it up. The Fallkniven DC-4 diamond/ceramic sharpener has a habit of coming apart. When mine did I noticed that the back of the diamond part was polished smooth so I roughed it up. I used miracle glue to reglue it.

you could always get their zipper pull compass..............it has a lanyard hole.....and use your current one as a backup.....
