Below is our Ernest Wright collection. My wife uses the tailor's shears (top and third from the left) and the little 4" embroidery scissors quite a lot. The 12" industrial shears on the left are my go to for heavy-duty tasks and the 12" paper hanger scissors are the best wrapping paper cutters on the planet, IMO.

I started to acquire only the best, buy-it-for-life scissors and shears I could find after having a cheap pair with plastic handles snap apart in my hands when cutting cardboard many years ago and send shards of plastic flying. Since then, Ernest Wright, William Whiteley and Kai have been slowly replacing all of the disposable brands at our house.

Congratulations you have a gorgeous, unsurpassed English Sheffield scissor collection Shogun - you have excellent taste, discrimination and discernment.
My GF and I have collected some good William Whiteley and Wilkinson Industrial scissors because she is a seamstress and upholsterer.I have all types of scissors but they cannot hold a candle to your World class heirloom Ernest Wrights - keep hold of them because decent new English handmade scissors are only going to be become rarer and will be conspicuous by their absence probably within the next five to ten years unfortunately.
I no wonder there is a waiting list for the Wrights ; well worth it though.
Your top pair of 13" Tailors shears are incomparable - they are rare as hens teeth, weigh 800 grams and cost over £300 which is a total bargain compared to some fragile Japanese artisanal hairdressers and bonsai scissors at daft prices.
I have a friend that is a celebrity hairdresser in Jesmond, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, NE England and she has two identical pairs with one set off-site in a safe and they`re both individually insured.

If they were mine I would hesitate to use them, they`re so rare, precious and beautiful and I adore your turtons - fabulous collection.
I too love Kai, but have professional and Industrial Elk, Mundial and Beta scissors and some specialist ones for DIY, gardening etc.
