Hello, i was wondering about the size of the Hest, to you owners out there, would you consiter the handle full size? i have an izula and love it but i want a little more knife power for bigger jobs. i was also thinking about the ESEE 3 but the hest looks a like it has more handle, not including finger choil.
what do you guys think, about the esee hest and 3?

Any info is helpful,
Thanks!

I've owned both. I still have the -3 and love it. It will handle more than you would think, and has found a home on my edc pack. If it were me with only an Izula, I'd get the -3 and skip the HEST.

The HEST has lots of handle. There is room to move your hand around in there, and space for prying with the prybar. Sheathed, I can still get my hand in there to use the prybar safely.

I prefer the 3. Technically less handle, but still plenty to grab. The blade is much more useful than the short fat blade of the hest.

The HEST handle is quite comfortable. I have medium-sized hands, so if you have mongo paws you may want something bigger, but I find the HEST is perfectly sized for me.

I just got a 3 and love it. Also have a HEST. They are both good, but I like the size of the 3 a bit more.

Here is a pic that might help you.

In my own small-sissy-handed experience, the handle length of the HEST/-3 is comparable. However, the -3 is a much more practical and useful knife: no pry-bar to unintentionally get in the way and gouge furniture when you sit down, and the sheath (seems) more svelte - which is a deal-breaker for knife-buying, right?

if i could make the HEST w/ a glass breaker in place of the prybar it would be almighty, i have large bear claws the hest fits great in my hand the prybar snugs up w/ my pinkey a bit. I'd get the HEST you can always get more ESEE 3s but after the ESEE HESTS are gone its done ur gonna have to get the ?Tops? one

H.E.S.T. gets my vote

The HEST is a thicker blade than the -3 which gives it a fuller feel in my hand. It's almost the size of the -3 but has a more reassuring feel. I'm not a big fan of the pry bar extension though...

Thanks!
I orderd a 3 and it will hopefully be here soon,
Thank you for the picture and link,
