Esee Izula II Horizontal Sheath Needed!

I just ordered a Esee Izula II for my first attempt at fixed blade EDC. I think this will work best carried horizontally on one of my 1.5" gun belts but I want to have options. I'm not sure if I'll like and want to keep the scales or go naked with it. I want something that sits close or just below the belt line and tight against it. I'm thinking some type of rotating clip Spydie G-Clip or Tech-Loc. I don't know about pancake vs. taco but I'm afraid that if it's too wide it might bite my sensitive white dunlap when I bend. I've been wading through the pages of info and pictures here and checking out some makers websites hoping someone had a workable solution in stock but surprised I haven't seen it yet.
Any advice on who best to take this on would be appreciated.

Nice choice for an edc blade, covers just about everything. With a Kydex sheath: if the sheath is made for an Izula II with scales you can still use the knife w/out them and the advantage to this is you get a nice "thumb-push" that is formed above the scales. I think a taco sheath is definitely the way to go for size (compact) and the thumb-push. I'm pretty sure the g-clip won't work with a 1.5" belt, the sm. Tek-Lok definitely won't so you'll need a lg. Tek-Lok at a minimum. But I have a better idea/solution.

A Kydex Scout Sheath would work perfectly for what you've described and the straps will work with any belt up to 2" while still staying close/tight to you. At a minimum I'd go with a taco sheath on a lg. Tek-Lok and a step up would be a Scout Sheath....especially if you have anything else you'd like to add to the sheath like a lighter, fire steel, hand-cuff key, pouch, flash-light, nanostriker etc.

Here's a good pic of the thumb-push for reference:

This is one of my Kydex Scout Sheaths and one of my edc setups (been carrying a Rodent Solution lately)

Here's what's in/on it: Izula II, Mini-Bic lighter and a flash-light (blade, fire & light) you can wrap cordage around it too between the straps:

The straps are spaced for molle-webbing, they're stronger than leather and won't stretch, crack or retain moisture either. I normally set these up for small of back right hand carry so they're left handed but they work up front too, works out great on a pack strap too.

Hope this helps,

Eli

Thanks for the thorough response Eli. I've been carrying a folder all my life but never used fixed blades except for skinning game. Really don't know if carrying on my waist is gonna work but I'm running out of pocket space and though I'd give a fixed blade a shot.
I'm a little concerned that the Scout style might be more bulky than necessary for my application since I don't plan to attach anything else to the shealth, though the light is a consideration since I always carry a 4Sevens Quark 123 in my pocket. I'd love to see a picture of the scout in use worn in front or on the side.
Are you stocking any Taco styles for the IzulaIIs right now? They are showing "unavailable" on your web site.
Should get the knife and g-clip in in the next few days. Specs show it fits a 1.5" belt so surprised to hear in your experience that doesn't work. I'll use paracord to play around with some different positions and get back in touch in a few days to make something happen. Thanks.

No problem, I hear you on pocket space too.... if I have two coins in my pockets I go insane so for me this works out great because there's no way I'm putting any of those things in my pocket, clipped folders don't bother me if they sit high enough. I don't think I have front pics, all of mine are at the small of back like this:

The only front one is me pulling a knife from a pack-strap mounted Scout Sheath (proto-type pictured):

I know a guy who carries one of these sheaths for a Laser Strike up front and I'll get a pic next time I see him. Also, if it says it fits a 1.5" belt then it does... I said I wasn't sure so sorry for the confusion... I knew about the sm. Tek-Lok for sure.

I have a box full of Izula, Izula II & Candiru sheaths but I just launched my site late Sunday night so it sounds like I've got more bugs to work out, they'll be available tonight. I also have a box of "complete" setup Izula & Izula II sheaths but I don't have pics of them yet, I really like dressing the little guys up like the big boys with fire steel holders and all. They look like the next two pictures but in a bunch of different configurations, attachments, colors etc.

Holy crap godspeed. why even carry a knife when you already have a pair of guns!

hahaha, glad I wasn't drinking anything when I read that... but to be honest I saw that picture and thought "is that me?". Thanks for the laugh man.

Rodney: Thanks, I'll wait to hear from ya.

I do really like the Izula 2, that little extra handle really makes a different in how it feels in use.

Please do post pics when that new rig comes in!

And yes Eli, you do seem to be rather solidly put together. :D

i wear my izula and bk11/14 under my left arm.

alot of guys carry a neck knife just around the neck. but then when i bend over it swings to the front. so i wear the knife on about 2.5' of 550 cord, i wear it under my left arm and over the right side of my neck. its light and out of my way. i dont use my knife enough to really jam it in another pocket. carrried a folder or small fixed blade in my pocket for years then i switched to belt carry. but while belt carry is nice i move alot at work and when i wear a suit a knife on your belt doesnt really match

great sheath, quick ship and an extra bonus. Thanks for the fire kit Eli. Will post pics soon-now trying to getiTrader feedback to work for me. Not ashamed of my pink izula at all. May loose my geekhood title.
