I just ordered a Esee Izula II for my first attempt at fixed blade EDC. I think this will work best carried horizontally on one of my 1.5" gun belts but I want to have options. I'm not sure if I'll like and want to keep the scales or go naked with it. I want something that sits close or just below the belt line and tight against it. I'm thinking some type of rotating clip Spydie G-Clip or Tech-Loc. I don't know about pancake vs. taco but I'm afraid that if it's too wide it might bite my sensitive white dunlap when I bend. I've been wading through the pages of info and pictures here and checking out some makers websites hoping someone had a workable solution in stock but surprised I haven't seen it yet.
Any advice on who best to take this on would be appreciated.
Nice choice for an edc blade, covers just about everything. With a Kydex sheath: if the sheath is made for an Izula II with scales you can still use the knife w/out them and the advantage to this is you get a nice "thumb-push" that is formed above the scales. I think a taco sheath is definitely the way to go for size (compact) and the thumb-push. I'm pretty sure the g-clip won't work with a 1.5" belt, the sm. Tek-Lok definitely won't so you'll need a lg. Tek-Lok at a minimum. But I have a better idea/solution.
A Kydex Scout Sheath would work perfectly for what you've described and the straps will work with any belt up to 2" while still staying close/tight to you. At a minimum I'd go with a taco sheath on a lg. Tek-Lok and a step up would be a Scout Sheath....especially if you have anything else you'd like to add to the sheath like a lighter, fire steel, hand-cuff key, pouch, flash-light, nanostriker etc.
Here's a good pic of the thumb-push for reference:
This is one of my Kydex Scout Sheaths and one of my edc setups (been carrying a Rodent Solution lately)
Here's what's in/on it: Izula II, Mini-Bic lighter and a flash-light (blade, fire & light) you can wrap cordage around it too between the straps:
The straps are spaced for molle-webbing, they're stronger than leather and won't stretch, crack or retain moisture either. I normally set these up for small of back right hand carry so they're left handed but they work up front too, works out great on a pack strap too.
Hope this helps,
Eli
