Before I buy the Junglas. What other knife should I look at? That does what this does. I may look at other knifes priced at $300+ not more than $400 tops.

Why do you need a $300 knife to chop with? Junglas is cool but at $160+ I'm happy with my condor inca for $35

condor golok or parang
Junglas
Buck Hoodlum
Becker BK9
Busse Bushwhacker Mistress
Busse Basic 11
Scrapyard Dogfather
Swamp Rat Battle Rat
CS Trailmaster
to name a few off the top of my head.

Condors are great. I have been pleased with my Martindale Machetes as well. I still want to get my hands on a Junglas though.

I'm huge Esee fan, but I got a Scrapyard Dogfather because I prefer a chopper to have a rubber handle. Although to be perfectly honest, unless I'm cutting up a huge piece of hardwood (which I should probably use an axe for), most of my chopping is done with my Esee Lite Machete.

First off, love the Junglas and want one...when I can find one.

However, in the grand scheme of things, the Junglas is really more a modern day Bowie or and Americanized version of the Finnish Leuku than a machete.

I have two great machetes so I have that covered. I also have a Iisakki Leuku. So I plan to buy a Junglas to cover the Bowie knife niche...a big, al. purpose knife that should do a lot of things well.

So if you haven't got a machete, get an Imacasa or any number of other brands that are good (mine are Collins Legitimus, Guatemala) for way less money than a Junglas.

But I know how you feel and I can't wait to get one but I just bought a super duper revolver so knife buying is on hold for a bit.

I second the buck hoodlum, Looks to be a great knife, made in usa, and should be coming out soon. Get your preorder in and you won't be dissapointed

Thanks guys. I have it down too the Junglas and the Scrapyard Dogfather. Who has the best prices on those two?

Think the knife connection has Junglas in stock, free shipping. Not sure but I think you can only get scrapyard on their site.

Junglas is cool but look at the BK9 too. It chops nearly as well and does fine work better (IMO of course) and it does it at a fraction of the cost. Either way you get a great tool made of outstanding steel with an iron clad warranty.

I offloaded a bunch of blades including my BMF last spring (was not a fan of the hypalon) one of the blades I picked up was a Junglas -- more versatile sheath and better grip.

I would recommend the junglas. Im about to buy one myself despite having a dogfather, KZ II and the scrapizashi and rodent waki. My dad has one and its kind of an odd feeling blade at first but it really grows on you. Not to mention the sheath is amazing.

I would say
Junglas,M9 and Dogfather are the best choices. I mean for a pure chopper my KZ II outperforms all of them 2 to 1 but I also sometimes wonder why I have a 500+ dollar kukri when I can spit wood with a $20 axe.....

For pure chopping power at a bargain the Cold Steel Kukri is tough to beat.

You're right. Tell you what... send it my way, and I'll send you not one, but TWO $20 axes!!!

Cuz I'm cool like that. :)

Not to take anything away form the Junglas/ESEE but the Becker line, namely the BK9 has just as good of a blade. I thing a much more ergonomic handle and as said before a fraction of the cost....Becker all the way...

One thing about my BMF. The more I chop trees with it. The more it wants. Too bad I can't cut the big trees with it. 4-6" no problems. One well made knife in it's time for the money. I'll replace it when I brake it. More reeds and tress to morrow.

unless you have large hands - in gloves, I can only get 3 fingers in the Becker handle.
