A month ago I picked up this ESSE 3. I’ve been enamored with small fixed blades but I took a chance on this model. While I’m not an ESSE zealot, I do own a number of their knives. This blade has impressed me every time I use it. It’s not a bruiser yet it excels at slicing.

the factory edge was sharp, with a little time on a strop, it easily went to the next level of sharp. It’s fairly thin behind the edge and it carries it all the way to the spine. Honestly, it slices like my Spyderco Military.

The 3 rocks easily into wood. The knife excels both in both the kitchen with bushcraft tasks.

Basic cuts in timber are an easy task.

I own many custom knives and the ESSE 3 for about $120 has been a great light belt knife/edc. I am not trying to sell the knife, I just find it performs well. Most small Fixed blade knives are to thick To compete with folders. The 3 performs just as well. I would never pry or beat on this knife but if your in the market for a small fixed blade that is stainless. This is one to consider.
