I am a fan of traditional axes and hatchets with ergonomic curved wooden handle, but metal one piece Estwing hatchet with leather handle and beautful proportions attracted my attention few years ago. Finnaly I bought it.
I don't like new, shiny things, so I added little patina right away, removed lacquer from the handle, oiled it and polished it with shoeshine and sharpened (I was dissapointed on factory sharpening) and polished the cutting edge. Later I made a new leather sheath I didn't like the original one. My demands were: free poll (hammering with sheath on), safety (snap is very insecure and it can open when no need), possibility to carry hatchet on belt or on shoulder strap.
It was only one day between first and last picture and I thouught I should show them to you.
Thank you for your time.
