Estwing made a double bit axe and a tomahawk!

It doesn't say what kind of steel they are made from, but it's probably the same steel that every Estwing product is made from.
I'm gonna be buying myself one of these ASAP.

I've never seen an Estwing tool made with crappy steel. And they say 'Made in America'. It's a safe bet that they're at least good steel.

I only wonder what took them so long. Not crazy about the design but it will do well.
If memory serves correctly they use a 1070 variant for thier axes. If you haven't hopped on Netflix and watched the How It's Made for the Estwing products you are missing out.

I will definately be buying one of these ESTWING LEATHER BLACK EAGLE TOMAHAWK.
Can someone please explain what the ESTWING LEATHER BLACK EAGLE DOUBLE BIT AXE design is used for? (please excuse my ignorance)

Also, any idea when these will be avail for sale and how much they will cost? I want one yesterday :)

Oh my lord that is cool.

I could be mistaken, but double bits are for lots of work. Two edges so you can keep working without returning or stopping to sharpen your blade. the extra weight doesn't hurt its bite either.

thanks ron_m80. thats a simple explanation that makes a lot of sense.

I called Estwing and got the answeres to my other questions. I figured I would share.

The black w/ leather grips will be $57.10
The all black will be $53.10.
The blue one will be avail through Home Depot and the price is not known yet but it will prob be the most affordable.

They are hoping all will be avail for sale w/ in the month of October!!

Edit: BTW that info is for the tomahawk. sorry i forgot to ask about the double bit axe.

At 17 inches long it will compete with any saddle cruiser that I've ever seen. Collins & Norlund saddle cruisers go for $100+ on Ebay.

I'm going to get one w/ Leather! $57.00 seems very reasonable. Wonder what kind of sheath they will come with.

a smaller version double bit would be handy. i don't need a 38 ounce chopper. 20 ounces would work for me.

Plus, you can go with both edges sharpened to the same degree, or have one thicker for hard chopping and the other thinner and sharper for finer work. Depends what you want to do. The double bits just give you more versatility. You've got to be a little more careful though.

For sure. I have a double bit hatchet (a Marbles). and they are not as practical as a regular hatchet (and much more dangerous than a double bit axe). Watch that backswing!

I agree. A double bit axe is awesome. A double bit hachet I'm not sold on for camping use.

Plasmio,
I work in sales at Estwing. We use a 1055 top grade steel on all our tools. These axes are forged out of one piece of steel and yet are really light! They are not quite yet available at a retail level, but we are working hard at getting them out soon. You can also go to Estwing's facebook page since I try and update that as things become available. I can't WAIT to get these out in the market place. You will not be disappointed..

matte black is ultra cool in person..very tactical look..leather is the more traditional outdoorsman axe look.
