Picked up one of these, really to play around with. Realized that just because it is light, doesn't mean it is a "toy". No, I didn't hurt myself, didn't come close, but this axe can be a worker. I split several logs that were too wide for the woodstove, into manageable sections. Yeah, could've been done with the maul and wedge, but it was more fun to play with the axe. I am used to the maul and wedge, so it took a couple swings to get used to the hand placement on the axe, and the lighter axe head.

Don't tell my custom knives this, but I think I could make out okay with my Vic Huntsman, Mora and Estwing ;):D:confused::foot::D.

I have weak spot for Estwing, despite having Wetterlings & Ox Heads.I have used them for years & really like them for being so tough & durable.

Good axe!
My Estwing Campers axe was my first good axe/hatchet!
I have lots of axe/hatchets now but i still want to get one of the small leather handled Estwings sometime.

I have an old Estwing 14a that rides in my back pocket on many of my treks. Great axes for general work.

tholiver,

Agreed---it was the stacked leather handle that got me!
