This is my latest project. Started out as a Estwing camp axe. Removed the handle and used a 4" grinder and cut off to mod. Flattened out curve in handle with epoxy. Handle scales are made out of a cutting board. Head was sanded, bead blasted, and blued. I think my next project might be an Estwing mod with a light weight waffle spike hammer poll.

Cool! Can you do a side-on pic? I have a camp axe and i've always wondered what the tang looked like under the blue handle.

Here's a top and side shot. You still can't see the tang It's encased in epoxy. When you remove the blue handle you find a thin metal tang that's concave on both sides. I fill the concave sides with with epoxy to give it a flat working surface for the scales. One of the hardest parts was drilling the three holes, tried speed steel and cobalt bits. Neither of these would even scratch the surface. I ended up using a carbide bit.
