I left my sage 1 in my pants and threw them in the dirty cloths on accident:( I am worried sick and I hope I will find the pants soon lol. Its carbon fiber scales so do those warp in the laundry?
What are your guys' opinions and experiences?

Everything I've ever carried in a pocket has gone through the wash at least once. Pocketknives, USB drives, wallet, keys...

Rarely is there any negative consequence. Those USB flash drives are tougher than you might think.

I've occasionally left a folder clipped to a pocket, but never a fixed blade. :D My Buck 484s have withstood the dryer test a few times.

I've had a case stockman go through the wash about three times before I realized where it was. I oiled it up and its been fine (very clean).

Yep...
About 6-7 years ago, I had a Chive get stuck in the gasket for about a month, I was convinced one of my buddies stole it. Came out all rusty, but it was fixable. Good as new now.

I have a Victorinox pruning knife that's been run through the wash a couple of times by accident. Nylon scales. Came out fine. Then again, I usually set the machine to cold water unless I'm washing something really grungy.

Not a carbon fiber knife, but my Camaro has a carbon fiber hood insert, it get pretty hot on summer days, been in rain, washed, never waxed and it still looks new. I would think you don't have anything to worry about.

As long as it doesn't get beaten around in the dryer (which would still just be a few scratches, if anything), the washing machine shouldn't hurt a thing.
Just dry it out. No different than washing it off in the sink.

I have had stuff go through the washer and turn out fine.

I would be much more worried about something going through the dryer. A friend of mine had his Boker end up in a dryer. It was not pretty when it came out.

I have done it a couple of times with my S.A.K . they came out clean and I dryed them off with the wife's hair dryer. and with a dab of oil it was just fine :)

I am worried about the scales, s30v is real tough, so thats the least of my concerns. I imagine the carbon fiber would get all screwed up but idk. The heat of the dryer is hot enough to warp plastic, would resin based material be ok? 175 is the max heat farenheit it would get, and I imagine that would mess up the scales and possibley screw with the heat treat

The time I ran a knife through the washer, the only thing that got bent out of shape was my wife....:D

"Ever put a knife through the wash?"

Washing machine? Dishwasher? Car wash?

Yes,

Yes,

and yes.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most quality knives can take more of a beating than many folks think they can.

I have washed and dried my carbon fiber Beretta (the Thomas one) at least half a dozen times with no ill effects. If its clipped in a pocket I don't think you're going to get high enough temps in a dryer to damage it. Even the CRKT Crawford/Casper folder with fairly thin plastic scales didn't suffer.

If anything, it will be very clean. Carbon fiber should be perfectly fine under those conditions.
