What did you find most appealing about the kme versus all the other guided systems?

The simplicity and stone and strop options. Really like the idea of the lapping films. Watching videos and doing research I just get it with the kme.

Too deep in that the choil take nearly 1/4 of the blade height such that it seems neither necessary function-wise nor visually attractive.

It is large, I agree. Then again, it fits my hand pretty well, and is also intended to work with gloves...so, I dunno. Depends what you like and what you need.

I wanted that blade pattern as I find it very useful. The way I would be using it there is little chance of the choil causing issues. I don't mind the look.

That said, it would still work for me if it were a bit smaller.
