Hey guys,

I need your guys assistance, I am seriously considering buying a Fallkniven A2 but I would like to know about anyone’s hands on experience with one, in particular it’s general use and chopping ability. Also how much of a difference in chopping ability would you say there is between it and a dedicated chopper in the 9.5” range such as the Cold Steel Trail Master (just as an example). I would really appreciate your guys insight on the subject before I spend the $200.00. :)

Thanks in advance, much appreciated,

Super knife, out cuts most other things and will still shave ultra thin curls for a firesteel. I have a Tor myself, but an A2 is up there with the best of them.

Warning: Fallkniven are very addictive, just head over to 'the other forum' to see for yourself! ;)

I have an A2 but I haven't used it at all, at least not yet. One thing I can tell you is this: go to a place where they sell knives and get an A2 in your hands. Feel its balance, its handle, examine the exceptional blade profile (it is convex), examine the flawless edge, its sheath (mine came with a fantastic leather sheath) and then do the same with a Cold Steel Trail Master. I think you will agree that the overall winner is the Fallkniven A2. I own a lot of knives and many of them are not cheap at all, however I believe that the A2 is one of the best camping knives I have ever put my hands on.

My $.02

I don't own a Fallkniven as yet and I havn't used the one in question, but to compare it to a CS distributed knife would seem to me to be comparing apples and lemons. The Fallkniven I have used just recently is the A1 and even with the shorter blade, is far and away, the best knife when I compared it to my Becker BK-7, which I really like. Get the Fallkniven!

I'm not comparing it to Cold Steel :barf: like I said "as an example" If you re-read what I said it was how does it compare to a 9.5" knife in chopping ability, such as... so it was just an example. :) I never said I was deciding between the two. ;)

Thanks for the insight everyone, the more the better. :D Sounds perty good so far, as I expected. Can you guys think of any reason NOT to buy the A2?

If such a place exists in my neck of the woods(fingerlakes region/western New York), I would love to know about it. Anyone?

There is absolutely NO reason NOT to buy an A2.
So what are you waiting for??:D

You will be very happy with a Fallkniven. It is an awesome knife. I have not seen any other production knife with the kind of fit and finish that you see on every Fallkniven.

Another company whose knives you might want to take a look at is Bark River--their Canadian Camp knife would be ideal for your needs as well.

Is that A2 in A2 steel or is that just the model number with VG10? Either way that is a good looking blade from a reputable manufacturer. I say go for it.

I'm just getting mine from Knifeworks.com because they have several other items I a looking forward to buying at the same time. I couldn't find any ontario dealers either.

I'll second that Fallnkiven knives are addicting. The A2 is on my wish list....correction.It IS my wish list!!:))

Hey Waba...

Don't Hate!! :)

Those knives took me awhile to get..In fact Fallknivens are what I cut my teeth on and are the first Serious set of knives I started making production sheaths for back in 1999...

A couple of those like the HI and FII were gifts from the owner of Fallkniven (Peter).

I'll always have a soft spot for a Fallkniven..
